Over for another year

Postby Lynn m » 04 Oct 2006 14:58

Well thats us back and holidays over for another year

We had booked into the Ercanhan Hotel which has had very good reviews on HT so were looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately our room stank of raw sewage which got worse during the night the hotel did not have another room for us so after two disgusting nights,we moved ourselves round to the Devamli as they had had a cancellation due to the bomb frightning people away. :x

Anyway enough of the bad stuff after we changed hotels everything looked a lot brighter 8) except for the weather its lovely sitting in the bar with a large Efes in a chilled glass watching the rain pouring down  .

met up with some friends who have been going the same time as us every year its amazing the people you meet year after year that go back at the same time.

Looked for Colette in the Venice but did'nt find her she must have been hiding.

Bought lots of lovely handbags a girl can never have too many.

ate in a different restuarant everynight my favourit places were
Lighthouse,Florida,Set and The Lemon Tree

Took a walk around the old village to see if we could find Genes goat lady but I think we were up to late for her. Theres a lot of new buildings going up there.

Went on a boat trip but the weather was really bad and the theme from the Titanic kept going through my head still it was nice to swim in the rain

All thats left to do now is sit and wait until next year, hopefully Gene will find something to cheer us up with in the long winter months.

Thanks for bringing back a little ray of sunshine back into our lives Lynn
"Sounds as though you had a little rain as well as the sunshine"

Even though it rains we can still enjoy our hols.

Anyway enough of the bad stuff after we changed hotels everything looked a lot brighter except for the weather its lovely sitting in the bar with a large Efes in a chilled glass watching the rain pouring down

That sounds ok to me,bring on the rain, pull up a stool and lets stay round the bar.

Gene

Thanks folks

Been going same 2 weeks now for years and never had rain as much as that. Felt sorry for our friend he came out the last week and this was his first time in Turkey and like you he's a sun worshipper. 8)

You should have seen his face when we took him to see the male belly dancer in the Venice then took him over to the Majestic to see the one in there, it was a picture.

It was nice to see Icmeler again through new eyes we done all the things that you do when you first go, Turkish baths, boat trips, turkish nights and when he saw hubby getting kissed when we met old friends the expression on his face was priceless thought I was going to wet myself.(Thank god for Tena Lady)

Roll on next June

Us northern men often kiss each other and sometimes we hold hands while in the pub.
Before you ask I am not telling you the name of my bar.

Hi Lynn,
Glad you had a great time! I think it's lovely when the men greet each other with a kiss, you see young lads greeting each other like this and you think of back home where they'd rather punch each others lights out!!
I think I'm still a hippy from the sixties - make love, not war

Hi Lynn it sounds like you had a lovely holiday, how are all the lads in the Sports Bar? How is Freddy he had bad hayfever in august whilst I was there and he had me putting eye drops in for him twice daily. I bet Icmeler is a different place in the rain it must be refreshing.

Hi Skilly and Clare

Freddy looked fine did not appear to still have hay fever he’s still chatting up all the women as usual.
I think Emre and Michael were getting a bit nervous about going into the army in December. It will be funny next year without them. Mustapha might be coming to stay with us at Christmas if he can get over.

Hiya Lynn. I promised to send Mustafa some Thorntons chocolates on our return home in August. Luckily one of my friends was going to Icmeler so she took them with her and gave them to him in the bar. He told us that he had stayed with someone over Xmas in the past and that he ate loads of lovely chocs (hence the Thorntons). He showed us all the photos he had taken. Did he stay with you?

I am also just back from 2 great weeks in Icmeler and have reminded myself of just why I wanted to go back after the 1st time 4yrs ago, and now I finally have will most definately be back next year. We stayed at the Mitos apartments in the canal area and had a fantastic time, loved the location so central for everything.

Can't believe how many of the restaurants have disappeared from 4 years ago, but it is still a fabulous place with plenty of places to try for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you'd still never have done the all.

Our first week was a little wet, but we were in Icmeler therefore it didn't matter so much as it was still warm. Second week however was great and couldn't fault the weather (although it was a little warmer than I would have liked but I am definately not complaining especially as when we landed in Glasgow at 5am yest morn it was only 10 degrees :( )

If only I were still there with the sun beating down, while I relax by the pool, in the day and then out and about in the evening, oh well there's always next year
