Possibly going To Propose!!! Which Jeweler For The Ring?

Postby dj_sploits » 07 Jan 2013 12:45

Hi all,

Hopefully returning to Içmeler on 8th July this year and I've decided that I may propose to my missus while we are there (I've obviously drank way too much over the festive period haha).
We are also in Paris in April but that's no where near as romantic as proposing in Içmeler :D
I plan to do it mid holiday so as soon as I get there i want to find a good jeweler who can knock me up a beautiful ring in a few days (3 days tops hopefully).

Where do people recommend? I bought a ring in 2007 in a place called Gemini but I'm sure its long gone.

Also its a few month off and there's always a chance she will do my head in and the proposal will be out the window
She also has no idea that I'm going to do it as for the last 7 and a half year we have been together I have been against this sort of thing :D

I wouls suggest that you look at all of the jewellers as they all have a great selection.

If you want one made to your specification then go and see one of the few Goldsmiths that the jewelery shop owners would go to anyway and cut out the middle man

As far as I can see this would be the sensible way to do things other than every member reccomending their own favourite jeweller which would then not really help you

Hi JT.

How would I go about finding a goldsmith?

The question was but out to see a few recommendations and possibly if somebody else had got one made out there for the same purpose :)

We go to Latina Goldsmiths opposite Romance Palace Restaurant. Atilla makes and repairs jewellery for some of the big jewellers and he will do anything to your design or will let you choose a design from a catalogue. He made me another wedding ring blending together my original ring and my mums wedding ring it only took him 4hrs and he made a perfect new wedding ring for me which had me in tears, poor man thought i didn't like it until his partner Linda (she is Australian so no language problem) explained that i was just a bit emotional and i loved the ring. Hubby loved it too especially when told the price lol we will be visiting them in september to alter some more of my jewellery, it's also my birthday while we are there so OH will be looking too

The one JT was talking about next to ICR offices is very good. I took my engagement ring there last September and he put in a new diamond and claw at a very good price,it was cleaned up and looked better than when I first bought it (over 45 years ago!!!!) . His workmanship is excellent, I have also had other rings altered and mended there in the past years and would not hesitate to recomend him.

Hi, dj_sploits i done the same thing myself last june and nobody apart from myself new what i was up too,
got down on one knee at the bbq night in front of everyone after a few double whiskeys and a lot of effes.
i chose the ring from simons diamonds and had it altered slightly,
Donna loves the ring and of course said yes ( phew ) we are now hoping to get married in Icmeler in 2014.
Which ever jewler you chose she wil love it, good luck. :D

Fantastic story and one that I hope mine turns out like :-D
Haven't decided where iI want to do it yet. I have good friends in Içmeler so can't decide whether to do it in the Ida Lounge while we have a meal or to do it in Gossip Bar over the mic (my friend Salih work there and will have the champagne on ice haha).

Hi, i have had work done in the goldsmith next to the ICR office, very good quality work, i felt like i was robbing them with the minimal price they charged me! I have also brought an engagement ring ( via a couple phone calls and a bank transfer) from DREAMS jewelers, just along from tandoori sizzler toward beach first jeweler on right. Faruk is superb, popped in last year to thank him and he had the ring polished and re rhodiumed at no cost what so ever.

Had our wedding rings made last year at Trust jewellers. Just up the main road from Kapmar hotel. I'd been quoted a 10 week wait in England due to my ape sized fingers but he supplied ours in 2 days. I was very satisfied with service and price.

A few years ago I took 2 rings (my late mother's engagement ring and my husbands 1st signet ring) to Yasmin and had them made into 1 ring. The ring is beautiful and what a good job they made and very reasonable - can certainly recommend them :D
