Turkish Food

Hi everyone, could anybody give me some suggestions for a typical Turkish Meal, flying out on 14th September and staying at Faber in old village, want to sample some Turkish cuisine, looked at so many reviews on what people have eaten and have not got a clue what they are, the kebabs all have different names, not afraid to try anything and also like spicy food, would like some help please, many thanks in advance for any information .

For Spicey try the Adana Kebab with extra Chillies.

If you like Lamb you will find the bext in Turkey, the slow cooked lamb is so tender, the lamb shank just shakes off the bone.

Their Casoroles are fantastic as well.

We stayed at Faber in june and had a fantastic time, staff were great. We are back out this Friday but couldnt stay at Faber because it was fully booked. You have got to try Sidiks Family Restaurant for typical Turkish food and an amazing Turkish welcome. Also you must try Hanedan. Dont be afraid to ask the staff for their suggestions because you will never be disappointed. We will be round to say hello and a drink with the boys in Faber so might see you there. Have an amazing time.

I've got Binnur's book and everything I've made from it has turned out great so I'd definitely recommend you try some out

We are back to the faber on friday.

As has already been said, there are some great Turkish resturants close to the hotel. Just have a word with speedy at the hotel and he will point them out for you.

Feel free to say hello whilst your there. because it's only a small hotel you get to know most people well. We've gone on recommendations off hotel guests every time we've been.

As said, do try Sidik's Family Restaurant. Nearly all restaurants in Icmeler you will find very welcoming and will have a section on the menu which is all geared towards Turkish cuisine. Plus any waiter worth his job will be able to recommend something typically Turkish and it may not even be on the menu.
Any dish that is Ottoman style will be traditional, Turkish and delicious.

We visited a Turkish kitchen across from Tansas down a side street.
The owner, on our 3rd visit, offered to make up 2 plates with a selection of what he had to offer.
Also got 2 very large, freshly made lamb kebabs and a large puffed bread to go with food.
Got 2 creamed rice for afters and an iced peach tea and 3 glass bottles of coke all for the princely sum of 60 lira.
Not bad for 4 adults and extremely good authentic Turkish food.
We were all stuffed and will definatly be visiting again next year.

Wow that sounds good , and also brilliant value for money, will definately be adding this to my list of Restaurants to visit, not long now , fly out Friday, think I would need to stay for about a month to visit all the Restaurants people have listed, then I will need to diet for a whole year to get the weight off to start all over again next year.

Not so much of a restaurant but still lovely. The locals all eat here so enough said. They also dont sell alcohol, but you can have food and move on.
Also had a few lunches which were maybe 3 or 4 small plates of food to share and 2 drinks, and soup and 2 puddings (creamed rice and 1 cake ) and was around 18 lira. Fab wee find.

We mainly ate at Keyra because all we wanted was Turk food. We got Efes in both places though so maybe they're not the same place?

Hi guys
Place is called Ugra and is on main road directly across from Tansas entrance.
There are 2 entrances to this place, one down left hand
side of Ankara shop and other to the right of Ankara when facing shop.
Ask anyone and they will direct you.
Hope you find it ok and please let me know what you think of the food.
Kayra is behind Tansas next to bakers - totally different place.
Hope you enjoy your holidays and find this little gem.

As I recall the place is called Esnaf Lokantasi (Turkish Food House). Most enjoyable for sit in or take away, one of the cheapest places in town.
