Icmeler Info Please!

Can anyone provide directions to the Market held on a Wednesday please?

I've read that there is a footpath from Icmeler to Marmaris, is this true? How long would it take to walk that distance!?

Are there any nighclubs in and around Icmeler? If so, what are they called and which would you reccomend?

Hi Ryan

I'm not a market person but I guess you would just follow everyone else.

You can't miss the footpath from Icmeler to Marmaris. Walk down to the seafront, turn left and just keep walking. The path follows the sea all the way to Marmaris Marina. There are plenty of places to stop for a drink so the walk (or stroll) can take as long as you like. I reckon you can do it in a two or three hours depending on how many times you stop.

It's a beautiful walk and you can then get the taxi boat back - really good. You can also get the dolmus back which is cheaper but I tend to get the taxi boat back as it's quite refreshing after the walk.

There are a couple of nightclubs in Icmeler but I only know that one is called Eastenders. No doubt somebody much younger than me can fill you in with this info.

There is also bar street in Marmaris if you want to go really mad.

Ryan, if you tell us where you are staying, someone will be able to give you more precise directions to the market - it's pretty easy to find though and anyone would point you in the right direction.

Im staying at the 'Portofino' the reviews look shocking but I guess people are more likely to complain than compliment! I'm also having trouble finding the hotel on the map, everytime I search for it, I get a hotel in Marmaris which is abit worrying!!

Hi have just returned after great holiday, walk down to the main road past Tansas and follow people,you can walk to Marmaris depends on time of day and heat as to how long it takes,Eastenders night club has closed down but there is still one open I cant think of the name of it at the moment but lots of bars stay open and play music until ?????? enjoy your holiday.

The market is a fair walk from you. The Portofino looks nice, and was busy a week ago, I booked there stupidly cheaply and was talked out of it by people that had stayed, but I see it's on ICR's list for next year, so it must have improved. By the way, right next door to you is a great little bar - The pig & whistle - give it a shot. Where you are in Icmeler is right at the bottom of the beach - find the munamar beach hotel, or chateau du ville, you right by them both. The walk to Marmaris starts very close by to you, just go the end of the beach front and keep on going. Depending how far you want to go into Marmaris, anything from an hour upwards for a nice leisurely stroll.

Lots of ways to get to the market, turn left out of the portofino, follow the road up and to the right when it bears right, keep on going til you get to the roundabout like junction beyond tansas, it's just about over the road from there but you'll see the crowds.

Nightclubs - just the one now. On the main street, Ambience, not sure if it's still called that or if it's called Eastenders now, but that's where Eastenders has moved to. Lots of other bars that stay open late and don't charge silly prices for beer though.

We arrived on 11th August, I was told it had just closed, don't know when exactly but there is a notice on the door saying it's moved to Ambience.

The Portofino is only about a minutes walk from the beach, on the downside we stayed in their sister hotel a few years back (Alinda) which was shocking, we got a move after a few days but other folks we had met had been moved from the Portofino to the Alinda and reckoned it was better.

Portofino is marked on the map but not on the list on the left (I know it's near the Pig & Whistle, so I could check.) Can you put it in the list? I'm not able to do this myself Thanks

The long list down the left hand side has 2 pages
You need to scroll to the bottom and select page 2.
Unfortunately I do not know how to put it into the list alphabetically.
I did think it would update and sort it automatically.
It might be worth checking it tomorrow to see if its changed.

I was there the first week of August, till 7th and Eastenders was open then and Ambiance was open too because I went to both. How weird that its closed as I thought it has only just had a refurb?

You know what it's like in Icmeler! I'm going back on Sunday, we're bound to be down that way as it's the route between my favourite shops and his favourite watering holes so I'll go look again. Did wonder if it had just been shut down for a week for some misdemeanour or something, but saw the note on the door in passing one day....

Thanks Noodles, I would appreciate it if you'd let us all know. Well, me anyway. I'm off over there soon and I know my brother would prefer Eastenders to Ambiance because their music is better but if they've gone, then so be it.

A few friends of mine who are over there for the season have posted on Facebook that EastEnders is now closed and most of their staff have gone over to Ambience. Not sure of the reasons, but as far as I know Ambience is the only club in Icmeler now!

Suppose I'll find out for sure in 10 short days YAY!!
