Coming down the canal passing the new shops turn left along promenade & it's just there. Looks classy, has security, in-house entertainment, linen tablecloths etc. Think it may be part or the Marti hotel.

If I remember rightly this place had live music when I was there in June.

Ahh I know where you mean. It looks really nice but expensive. Should really check out the menu and prices before making judgement I suppose but have to admit, it looked like somewhere quite romantic and as I was with the girls it wasn't appropriate for me. I bet the food is lush.

Me and wife have been to this restaurant twice last year and in 07,really enjoyed it,food was lovely and nice relaxed romantic setting with live acoustic music.
Great spot for a walk down the beachfront too.

Thanks for the replies folks.

LA GROTTA not Grotto I noticed.

Went past yesterday & spoke to staff who said it was open to non Marti residents but best to make a reservation in advance to ensure nice table. Menu looked good & not to expensive, not sure about drinks though. Got stuff on at the moment but will be giving it a try soon & will report on here how it went.

Wouldn't mind hearing a review of this once you get to sample it Roy, it sounds like it would be a nice night alone for me and the missus.

Went to this restaurant when we stayed at the Marti, we could book in and eat there one night a week during your stay. we couldn`t book the first week so went the second week, if I would have had to pay for this meal, there would have been an argument. We ordered steak when it came it was so tough, and the mashed potatoes were just slop ! vegetables which are usually very good were terrible, and when it came there was two bits of long pasta decorating it needless to say we ate very little, the only good thing was the duo playing live music, after this experience I`m afraid never again. saying that it might be different if your actually paying for it, but looking around all the plates looked the same. Sorry :(

Hi Roy, not this year, last year, I suppose its like everywhere the quality changes frequently, we did have a walk past in July, but it didn`t change my mind. If the food was still like last year, because it was quite expensive i didn`t want to run the risk of not enjoying, so we frequented places that we know. looking at the posts its a mixed bag! I suppose you have to make up your own minds. :) :) Janine

Thanks Janine, was contemplating there for an anniversary meal but like you I'll think we'll stick to the 'tried & tested' just to be on the safe side, rather than spoil the occasion. Will still probably go on another night just to try.
