Flight changes already

Postby madmackem » 21 Aug 2012 12:08

We booked our holiday through ***2 for June next year with great flight times but have just recieved email to say flight have changed, now instead of leaving at 09.30 from Newcastle and returning at 17.00 from dalaman :D which were perfect, we are now flying at 15.10 from Newcastle and 22.40 from Dalaman. This is so annoying as we could have got the same holiday cheaper on another site but booked with ***2 because of the times. Now we have got to take an extra days holiday from work as return is night flight GRRRRRRRRRR  . I know companies do this but it still makes me mad  . I wonder if they will change again or if our original flight times become mysteriously available again, at a later in the year, I shall be watching.

Expect them to change again, I think once the season starts there should be minimal changes but upto April I always expect changes.

Agree it is so annoying when this happens especially if you are still working and have planned your leave with precision. It often happened to us though we are retired now. I fully understand your annoyance. Unfortunately
most airlines will only compensate if it is a significant change say over 12 hours for example or change of airport.

Most of the time the changes are imposed on airlines by Euro Control who operate all the slots over europe. As time advances and the planning of slots grow they find bottlenecks that have to be cleared. It's a matter of safety, there ain't no traffic lights at 35000ft. I know it's annoying but thats the way it is.

Madmackem,i went last saturday to book the exact same flight times as you were supposed to be on for next year from Newcastle & as i was about to go ahead & book the travel agent got an alert on his screen which said that the 9.30 flight had been taken off altogether but the 15.10 was available,i to will have to make alternative arrangements because of work if J**2 dont put these flights back on but according to the travel agent he doesnt think they will, but i suppose we will do anything to get back to Icmeler eh.

I tried to check ***2's flights only to see if they are offering the earlier flight times but they are not available yet, be interesting to see what time slots are available when they do come up for sale. If the earlier flight do come up they better be ready with a good explanation. Watch this space .

we did get in touch with said company and if we cancel we would lose our deposit, and if we change our flights to suit our work we would have to pay admin chargers so lose lose allround

Madmackem

I booked same flights with ***2 and a 9.30 departure time for next june way back on 5th July. I had an email on 19th July informing of flight change then so they have known about it for ages.
