Back home :(

Postby DarrenG » 19 Aug 2012 10:53

Had a fab two weeks in Icmeler once again, blisteringly hot but not complaining! Stayed at the Vela for the second time and whilst the food isn't anything to write home about, the hotel itself is lovely and it's worth it even if all you do is have breakfast there each day and a few free beers around the pool at the end of the day.

The new square in front of Vela is a huge improvement.

Best food we had was at Chef, Kerem and Friends Bar. Best fun was a night at Majestic although, having had most of the cocktails they offered the next day was not so great!

Did very little other than lie on the beach in front of Kontes, eat, drink and sleep but that's what I want out of a holiday. squeezed in a few boat trips booked through ICR which are incredible value at £36 for four people including lunch!

We might be going farther afield next year after daughters GCSE's but we'll be back in Icmeler for sure. MrsG even spotted an apartment for sale in Icmeler on the company intranet. Close to the beach and only £46k, if only.....

Does anyone know the story about the marina? What happened to the buildings there and the lighthouse? The new market isn't anything to rave about either, doesn't have the atmosphere of the old canal side stalls but that's progress I guess.

Yes, it was that one. It was so good we went twice. Plenty of beds, never felt crowded, crew were great fun and the lunch was delicious. Highly recommended,

Enjoyed your quick review Darren. I like the part about doing basically nothing and that's what you want out of a holiday. I am exactly the same. I could lay by the pool all day long and do a couple of boat trips, squeeze in a Turkish bath and I am done! Lovely. Can't wait for September 22nd. :D
