Dolphin Trips are no longer available at ICR

Postby Rami Off Work » 13 Aug 2012 07:10

In the way of supporting our animals, we have made a decision on our company sales policy of excursions.

So, as of today, we have decided to stop the sales of these excursions all together. Dolphin trips are no longer available at ICR Travel - neither online nor at our office in Icmeler resort.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Fantastic news Rami , hope your agency gets lots of extra bookings as so many of us are against the imprisonment of these beautiful creatures. If nobody goes on these trips there will be no profit in keeping dolphins and then the practice will stop. Many thanks for showing your support.

Thats brilliant news, well done ICR didnt want to rant on here about the practice of keeping the beautiful creatures in captivity but after watching "The Cove" the complete cruelty that happens to get these dolphins to where they are is atrocious, well done again. :D :D

Good work, I completely agree with this but what about the horse safari? I didn't go on one but I feel again that a lot of time these animals are mistreated / underfed / overworked etc.

Maybe you could check them out (if you haven't already) and see what kind of treatment they get?

I hate animal cruelty - it's not as though they can even defend themselves most of the time as they are so weak.

Cheers,

Justin.

I personally would not get on one of the horses as I know I am too big but would love too

Horses are horses, dogs are dogs cats are cats

Nearly everyone I know has a dog or a cat so is that cruel or not because it is not a wild animal but born in captivity purposely for the pleasure of a human to pet it and soothe their needs

We could go on forever with arguments about animlas but there are a few problems with horses

Dolphins can be released into the wild and thats that

Horses if they were to be released, where to, there are no free spaces here I don't think that anything could be freee except for the mountains where the wild boars roma free

Horses would be captured if set free by another person and maybe not fed at all just used for labour until they die, or maybe just shot and eaten and red meat is expensive in Turkey and don't forget, horse meat is on the menu in most French restaurants.

I know what you are saying and I do not agree with ANY animal or HUMAN being made to do what it doesn't want to but there is only so much anyone can do

Have a look here http://www.peta.org/

These people do not want any human/animal interaction at all

Myself and Donna went horse riding a couple of
years back, and as far as we could see the horses
where well looked after, and believe me if they
weren't Donna would of had something to say
about it as she rides most weekends at home
and would be able to tell if any of the horses
Were in a bad condition.

JT, I didn't say anything about releasing them into the wild, I was just asking if they were well looked after and not mistreated in any way.

Seems jmelia128 has answered my question though :)

Awww this news has just made my morning! I will now always book my excursions through you over anyone that offers the Dolphin excursion. Wish everyone else would follow your lead. sueles810 your right, 'The Cove' is such a sad documentary.

Also, I've been on the horse safari many times and the horses seems really well looked after and happy within themselves. When we went they felt the horse was too small for one of the party so they changed him to make sure he could handle the load!

I am reading this with tears in my eyes and want to say thank you so much for stopping these trips.
I was part of the Facebook group who helped to rescue the 2 Hisaronu Dolpins who are now swimming along happily in the Aegean sea with the other wild dolphins.
Thanks again and I hope to come on other trips you have later this year. :D

I did the walk from Icmeler to Marmaris with my daughter a couple of weeks ago and it was heart wrenching to see the dolphin enclosure.

These creatures are meant to swim freely not be cooped up for human pleasure
