Hi, Can anyone give me a brief info on entertainment in bars etc in Icemeler. Having not been before not really sure what to expect. Do you find that these bars also charge top prices for drinks as they do in parts of Spain? I saw an advert on this site for a Motown evening if anyone has any info. (think it was somethink like the Scotia bar) !!!

Entertainment comprises of funny staff shows where the waiters get up and do some form of entertainment for the guests. There are Tina Turner, Michael Jackson & break-dancing shows. The breakdancers are actually very good and all self taught. There is also the robot show which is a guy in a costume but the costume is really something. he dances around to some music but its quite fun to watch, kids are mesmerized.
Of course your hotel will have the odd Turkish night where they will have belly dancers and traditional Turkish folklore dancing too.

There's also a couple of nightclubs - Eastenders and Ambience - if you're into that kind of thing. Some bars do karaoke nights, and there's the Stella Show at the Harmony Bar (drag act).

I'm sure I saw a karaoke bar along the canal... at the top on the same side as Venice!

If you are looking for a quieter relaxed evening with no dancing and shows, we wondered into the La Grotto along the beach front (part of the Marti complex) and there was this really good band playing and singing all kinds of music from Stevie Wonder hits fast so you can dance to very romantic songs :-) we went there twice as the lead singer was very handsome and had a very good voice... The band was called Express Band..
However, the drinks are a bit pricey in there compared to other bars.

Thanks Southampton girl. Yes thats exactly what I meant. Not necessarily shows but maybe a band or something. When you say drinks are pricey compared to everywhere else, what kinda prices you mean ?

For example: we were drinking Raki in other bars which cost 7 Lira and in La Grotta they were 11 Lira each a cup of tea in other bars was around 3.5 Lira and at La Grotta they were 5 Lira each..... we ate dinner somewhere else and just popped in there to relax for a couple of drinks.. ! :-)

There was another hotel doing similar along the beach front as well... the opposite direction to La Grotto and next to Peir 15 restaurant...

Hope you enjoy!

The Bahama Bar, part of the Ekinci Palace in the old town, do karaoke a couple of nights a week. The guy who does it streams it live over the internet, i've watched it a couple of times as we're staying in the Ekinci in September :D
