Afternoon to you all, me and my wife are coming over on the 2nd for 2 weeks (Can't wait) and i've been reading on here about prices being more expensive.
As we're on a limited budget this year i'm wondering if i could have some feedback on prices for eating out, we normally go to places like Wayside and Sidke's, any help would be appreciated...

Hi there we are just back and to be honest the only difference in prices that we noticed from 2 years ago was the price of the effes there were 3 of us and the dearest we paid for a meal was 101 lira that was the majestic and 39 lira was for colas. Lots of places are still doing deals chicken dishes from 21 lira and steak dishes from 24. Full English breakfasts are about 6 lira so you should be fine. Hope

Buffalo bar was were doing 2 full English breakfasts for 5tl last year, not sure if that's still the deal though.
And i believe Tandori Sizzler is doing free full English brekkies for forum members!
JT or other forum members would be able to clarify that for you I'm sure.

Doing the free breakfast .

We were there in June and did not really see much change in the prices from last year.If,like us, you are on a budget it pays to go into the small places that are used by the locals, the meals are usually great and the prices are very reasonable, that way you can then splash out at your favourite place a couple of times so you do not miss out on what you enjoy. If you are self catering then the answer is to have some meals in your apartment, the local food is fresh, cheap and tasty so give it a try, the local butcher is very helpful, explain what you want to do with the meat and he will give you the best sort, am sure you will enjoy whatever you do.

Thanks for the feedback guys, yeah we normally have a light breakfast and maybe a sandwich or something for lunch in our hotel room, we're going to be taking about £1000 over for the 2 of us, we're not really big drinkers, you know what it's like though, your on holiday and you don't want to be looking at cutting back on things...

If you're not big drinkers £1,000 should be MORE than enough.

Hi,

Me and my other half took £1400 in travellers cheques to spend on our two week trip.
we go home tomorrow.

we so far had a meal out every night, purchased fresh veg and fruit for self catering lunches, drank plenty of Efes, been on an ICR trip, went to aquadream, bought a few gifts including Turkish tea and a Turkish tea pot!, most meals we added 10% tip and we have kept 40 TL back for the cleaners.
The safe was £20 for two weeks, the air con was £60
We still have £450 worth of cheques left.

So on average we spent around £73 a day between us. Without the safe and aircon it would have been about £66 between us.

im pleased i read your post as i missed the one about them not doing the breakfast. I would have made such a fool of myself going in for a one

We took £1200 for 2 adults and our 8year old son. We eat out most lunch times, had really nice meals out every night plus a few drinks. We also did a boat trip, turkish baths and bought gifts- we came home with £350

First time i've been to Turkey in around 15 years and it's great value for money!

We stayed in the old village (8th to the 23rd July)and they eating places there seem to be a bit cheaper. If you have children then the Robin Hood is ideal the usual kids menu, we had a couple of cheap - meals chicken and chips and pudding for 2 of us, with an efes and came to 41lira.....it was very nice.

Yeah we're staying in the Old Town as well, just us 2 this year (First time in 20 years) we've eaten at Wayside before and Sidiks, so we'll be eating in those 2 restaurants again. Many thanks for the help....

i dont think the cost of eating out has increased much from last year to be honest
with the good exchange rate i think the prices are remaining the same
wayside has increased their steak prices a couple of lira but thats about it
they are still good prices for drinks and pastas

Oh dear we must be the exception to the rule!Food was not too different to last year.ate out every day lunch and dinner.Drinks cost us far more....on the beach,on the way back,before dinner after dinner and with lunch and dinner.....!We budgeted £100 a day for us and we more or less spent that.Just must be more thirsty than most!

soft drinks are expensive, hubby was paying 4 for a small 8 for a large in most bars, drink 2 large soft drinks 16 lira some off the set menus started at 16 lira

yeah i agree the soft drinks are expensive
but just need to watch where your buying them at
