Forum seems quiet......If you're in icmeler now....

Postby Chris221273 » 17 Jul 2012 09:16

Am guessing a lot of the forum members are in sunny icmeler enjoying their holidays.
So if any of you happen to pop on to the forum, would you be as kind as to let us all back here in the water logged uk know of exchange rates and any places doing good deals etc.
I, along with many others no doubt would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, been in icmeler for 4 days now. Local market close to my apartments is giving 2.79 exchange for my travellers cheques.
Weather is Hot Hot Hot. I never been in heat like this so I find my self in the pool a lot.

So far my fav restaurant is Alins. The waiter ask me to eat there last night but I had already eaten, I promised I would go the next night. So keeping to my promise, The following night we set out to Alins, it was quite funny, before we got even close to the resturant he came out and waved us in! What amazing eye sight he has!
I had the chicken casserole...WOW! Never had anything like it and will be going back a few times again.
My other half had chicken fajita. Once again fantastic!

Went to the beech today...what a let down.... Nothing but hassle trying to sell sun beds.
We ended up lying on our towels on the stoney sand. Had a few swims in the sea, but my other half was so peeved with the sundbed selling, we decided to head back to our apartment.

Is Alin's that good? - barely looked at their menu & have never tried it for a sit in meal, only even for a lazy evening by buying cooked chicken as a take away. Will await people's comments but looks like I be trying it soon.
Thanks.

Well it's best to go in and find out your self, every ones taste is diff, But I will say the menu doesn't do them justice. It looks basic and simple, but when eating... yummy yummy, our 2x meals and 2x efes was approx. 39TL.

Apologies everyone i know when i posted at the start of the holiday i promised that i would post again but the first 12 days have just flown - hoping the next 9 go slower. Exchange rate around 278 but did see 282 at the lovestar. Temperatures are soaring with the gauge in town showing 53 the other day. Meals good favourite ho have been venice with fillet steak which melted closely followed by sizzling beef. Still plenty of set meals to be had at reasonable prices for anyone on a budget. Everything still lovely any questions please ask.

I think Alins is one of the best restaurants for value, presentation and taste! The chicken in the apricot and mustard sauce is definitely one to try! You only have to walk past and see that it is one of the busiest restaurants in Icmeler. Their presentation of food rivals many a top notch restaurant!

Chris, you hit the nail on the head. I too was wooed by their presentation. We will be going back several times before we leave. I might suggest and tell them about their menu pictures, to me the pictures look too much like a street takeaway. But when you go in and are served up your meal it's like total quality you didn't expect.

My husband tried the same dish as what Chris had had, the chicken with apricot. He still comments about how lovely it was. No doubt we shall be calling in at Alins when we arrive in Icmeler week friday.

Lee dont be out off by someone selling a sunbed

Once you are on it then all is good

Better to be comfortable on a nice bed than lay on the ground

Icmeler prices for sun beds are very cheap compared to other countries and you will get 1st class service from the boys who will run to shops bars etc to keep you fed and watered, of course there will be a charge for this but is like any other job and thats is their wages

Couldn't agree more JT, 2.5tl we paid last year per day for a sunbed. Drinks offered, food, no problems if you declined. Buckets of sea water poured over your feet to cool you down, it don't get much better than that!
Is Ibrahim who owns the gold shop still doing the sunbeds JT?
