I have just said on another thread about Alanya. I went a couple of year's ago and found the hassle to be worse than anywhere else and you are right about them not being interested in us. They should be to be honest as we spend more money!!

Husband and I were in Alanya last September and we liked it. As you say, it is very much geared up to the Scandinavian/German/Russian market, but that didn't really bother us, and we still found the Turkish people friendly and helpful. There is a bit of hassle in the bazaar area, but to be honest, we didn't find it as bad as Marmaris. We didn't really find it any more expensive than Icmeler. I suppose it depends where you go and what you like to do. There are some lovely restaurants, the castle is well worth a visit for the spectacular views alone, and the beaches are very good.
Having said all that though, it's not Icmeler - and Icmeler is still our favourite place.

Just make sure you do not go up to the castle before a storm!! Then you see nothing, get soaked and have to get a taxi back as there is nowhere to shelter up there. Am I right Silverbeard!!,got that in before he did!!!

Ah! yes, I remember the grey wall of water that an olympic 100 yds. runner couldn't outpace. Lovely day to go to the castle she said. Drenched, but I bet the poor taxi driver had to bale his car out after he dropped us off. :D :D
