Tandoori Sizzler

Postby smc4761 » 06 Jun 2012 14:27

Just back from Icmeler and was looking forward to going to the Tandoori Sizzler as i had several good meals there last year. I dont know if we were spoiled with the prices last year or not, because at 19.75 lira for a set meal this was fantastic value. The place was packed most nights even in May

No set meals available this year and an equivelant starter and chicken main course was around 36 lira typically. Not hugely expensive by any means but pricey by Icmeler standards and a price jump of over 70%. Any time we passed this year the place was considerably queiter.

There is also a set chinese/indian menu the 2nd week we were there this year but that was priced in pounds and think it was £14.95 each

Did anyone visit the Sizzler this year and what was you experience of it

We visited the Tandoori Sizzler for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and have to say we thought it was a bit overpriced. No complaints about the food, it was very good, but we thought 9.50tl for a naan was a bit much, and the prices in general were a bit steep.

Dont go without - just hop on a Dolmus to Taj Majal on Icmeler side of Marmaris. Only takes about 10mins and one of the best rubies weve had home or abroad and reasonably priced too. Will definitely be visiting 2 or 3 times while we are there this month.

Get on the Dolmus to Marmaris and ask the Driver to let you off at Taj Mahal. Its on the left hand side as you come into Marmaris opposite a big shopping centre but as I say we just ask the Driver when we get on. You can either sit down downstairs in air-con or upstairs in the open air. Always busy and absolutely lovely food. I like a Korma but my hubbie goes for a phal and both are excellent! Definitely worth a try - we have never had a bad meal there

It's opposite 'point centre' on the main road through Marmaris. Ask for 'point centre' if you get no joy asking for Taj Mahal. If you go early enough (6.30 - 8pm) you should get a nice table up on the roof terrace looking out towards the sea. Oh yes i nearly forgot,...the food is lovely aswell !! :D

Well each to their own obviously Tandoori sizzler is usually my first port of call in Icmeler have never had a bad meal there in all the years of going to Turkey even when it was Old Famous Kitchen....I have had curry in the Taj Mahal and would rather eat in McDonalds than it..... I found it tasteless and because its a big restaurant you dont get the excellent service that Hakan and Levent give nothing is to much for them....but maybe its just me I like good food made fresh......Oh and by the way tandoori sizzler is the only place I leave knowing I've had a few vodka's hiccup thanks guys keep up the good work

Can I also tell you Guys that the food from the Taj mahal is bought in like we would buy a ding curry at home........Tandoori sizzler make there's from scratch I'm living proof of that since I went with 6kg of curry powder in my case last year :D

i have to agree the food is good but for me the price increase is just way too much making it very expensive for Icmeler. There are plenty of good restaurants, with equally good food I am sure we can agree, also with great service which are considerably cheaper than the Tandoori Sizzler. I think that the price increase has had an impact as the place was packed out last year yet this year it was quiet

We 12 of us went to this restaurant late April. We had been there last year and had fab time but this year was completely different. The price was a shock curry set meal 15 pound. We ordered and waited for our food when it arrived it looked nice but nothing special, my friend was mixing her rice with curry when a spider like thing came crawling out. We called the waiter and he said no prob and tried to remove it from her l
Plate she was fuming and insisted that the food be replaced they bright her plate back with the same food on another plate by now we had all started our food. Eventually a new meal was bright but we had all almost finished ours we paid 57 lira for that meal I know it's not a big amount but there are other places serving meals for 25 lira we won't be going there again even with the drinks discount

I ate at Tandoori Sizzler twice on my recent holiday. Both times we all had Indian set menu and even though it is quite expensive compared to other restaurants in resort there was plenty of food and it was top notch both times.
On our first visit we were offered a 20% discount if we visited again during our holiday, when we ate there again it was confirmed to us by the staff without us having to mention it.

4 course indian meal for 4 people with drinks 200 lira. Still good value.

that's a shame, another one I was getting excited about...I will pop in and see for myself and report back in July when I go.
do you think the exchange rate is encouraging them to be greedy and increase prices? One of the things that attracted me to choose Turkey for a holiday was the exchange rate, if the prices go up in the resorts then for me there is no attraction in eating out every night like I was planning to.

Very disappointed to hear this as we had an Indian set meal a few times last year and were all looking forward to going again a few times in the three weeks that we're there. Had no intention of going for the free breakfasts but the Sizzler had been near the top of our list of restaurants to go to. Hope they notice the comments on the forum and put the set meals back on otherwise they'll probably lose a lot of custom as most people these days are feeling the pinch.
