Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

I have been a member here since 2006 and have always found it a pleasant part of the built up to my holiday each year. The forum has always been a nice safe place where people who love Icmeler or those new to the resort could meet, ask questions, give advice or generally waffle on about how much they love the place.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that, this year, there seems to be a more unpleasant feel at times with, among other things, people's opinions being reacted (nastily) against and although I can't prove this (and will not give examples) some negative posts that seem to be untrue!

I would never deny anyone their right to express an opinion but personally preferred the old times when it seemed the forum was like old friends meeting up for a good chin wag.

Tim I too have noticed this over the recent months wether it be Dolphins, fish and chips or just anything in general so come on forum members support and be nice and respect others opinions or log off.

I have always tried to respect other peoples views and their right to express them on a forum of this type.
Everyone has a different view on things be it food entertainment or the courseness of the Icmeler sand.
We always had the odd person who tried to dictate to others how things should be,now that we have more members we have more people with stronger views.
This is a fantastic site for obtaining information,Holidays and excursions in Turkey.
I joined in 2004 and not many people had the knowledge of Icmeler has they do today,we used to say we are a family on this forum and I still think that applies.

I find the people who want to argue dont stop long and move on.

I agree Gene everybody is entitled to their opinion but you dont have to express it with aggression.
Each to their own i say,enjoy your hols whatever way you want.

As a recent newcomer to the forum I have found it to be friendly with people wanting to help & give useful advice & also up for a bit of a laugh but on a couple occasions had read a few terse posts where maybe, as suggested previously, use of the 'safe draft' might have been more fair & productive. I can honestly say I have both benefited by people's experience, knowledge & thoughts on matters as well as ENJOYED being a member of the Forum.
Respect of others & their views & opinions should be ultimate although as a realist appreciate everyone is an individual, we all don't like all the same things nor all the same people, but you have to live & let live, there's certainly enough diversity in Icmeler for everyone to have a brilliant time.
Sadly out of interest of where this would go, one thread I followed recently made me wonder what might happen if certain individuals actually came face to face over the tone of their differing opinion, having been coming to Icmeler for many times & years I have never seen any trouble & don't want to!!. Let's also be glad that there is some form of intervention & censorship on this site which is not a bad thing.
Regards to ALL & I sincerely hope you guys who picked up on this minority theme are certainly not put off contributing to the forum in any way you feel you want to.

And of course, the job of the moderator is to kerb any argumentative people on here. The forum still has a nice feel about it and our little family is always coming up with new info on the lovely Icmeler. As someone has said, most angry posters are a one post wonder!!

Also let's not forget the fact there are guidelines in place identifying the standards expected of forum members, including criticism, which we have all signed up to.

well this topic alone shows how sincere, democratic, valuable and effective this community has turned out to be.

We sometimes have hard times running the forum and concentrating on our main job as travel agents and
even at times we were "told off" for running a forum and that we were shooting ourselves on the foot.

Even today, we get reactions from forum members and bar and restaurant owners for keeping certain news or
for allowing certain comments being made.

I grew up with this forum and some grew old with it but personally speaking, not a single day did I regret having this forum because it was always a learning progress for me. I personally learned alot from it thus from all of you. So thank you all!

Also I have to mention that moderators we had in the past especially Colette, put in many hours and effort to
make sure this forum ran smoothly so have to give credit where its due.

The Biggest thanks goes to JT though for really putting up with so much over the years for the sake of not giving up and running the show.

Back to the main subject: We all have good or bad days. At the end of the day, this is not our living room, its
a place for all of us to share knowledge and opinions. You dont like my opinions then leave the page. Its as easy as that:)

This forum costs us more resources than it brings and the majority of our members do not even book their holidays with us. BUT They are not to blame! we had to make a move and we did it, so we announced http://www.bookingpricematch.com so hopefully we can finally win your business as well because at the end of the day, WE WANT TO and NOT JUST EXPECT to.

When we see these adverse comments on the Forum,it`s better to ignore them and not take the bait and reply.I`m sure the writers would soon get sick and give up.

i have also noticed some of these nasty possibly untrue comments and also some that could be classed as advertising rather than opinions.But that is always a possibility as the membership increases.
I would not change the forum because of a small number of nasty comments as 99% of members are very helpful and honest,and i like many others have found that if you need to find the answer to any question someone will either know or be able to point you in the right direction.

Very true. This does seem to happen a lot lately. If anyone sees a certain pattern to this sort of behaviour by a member, please send us a quick email and we will happily evaluate over it.

I only came back to the forums a couple of months ago after 6 years away and did notice a marked difference, not all of it negative. This site is still great at providing a friendly, family-like atmosphere for people to discuss probably the most important event of their year. It is easy to forget sometimes that this is actually a travel agency forum, and the very people who own that agency actually post and provide great info and service to people who may not even use their products, not to mention offering great discounts and deals just for posting on here.

There have been a couple of posts - some replies to the "fish & chips" thread had my blood boiling - but on the whole this is still a very respectful community with a plethora of good people that are happy to go out of their way to give advice and information. Certainly, the good far outweighs the bad. As someone else stated, I tend to ignore the inflammatory posts as i'm not here to get embroiled in arguments with people. This place is all about feeling good and looking forward to our time in the sun

I have only been going to Icmeler for the past 4yrs after originally booking through TC, since then I found ICR and have never looked back whether its simply booking a Transfer or Accomodation and Transfer, unfortunately living in Devon they dont do a great lot of flight deals from Bristol, that being the reason I have never booked flights throught ICR nothing else, and to honest I would be lost without this forum and its huge amount of info, so to say attitudes have changed, negative or not we all know in our own minds what Icmeler is like so choose to believe it or not.......people have too much time on their hands hahaha, ICR do a fantastic job, the forum is a great source of information and I salute you all for your hard work and effort, it has given me years of joy and comfort reading everyones reviews and comments and has helped me make important choices, so negative or not it will never change the fact that I love ICMELER full stop, thanks for reading, whoop, whoop xx

Can't say that I've noticed any difference in what's being posted recently - am resisting using the word "attitudes"
Seems to me that things are pretty much as they've always been...someone's unhappy about something, someone else posts comments opposing their views, but before it gets heated, someone else comes along and diffuses it! And that's what's great about this forum
I re-read the Fish and Chips thread and chuckled when I noticed someone asking why on earth people would eat fish & chips in Icmeler, and later on mentioned they'd done exactly that themselves
This is still THE best Icmeler forum out there, and long may that be the case

Fanny, I have to say that, due to the freshness of the fish and the wonderful local potatoes, I have had some of the best Fish & Chips ever in Icmeler!
