£100 to change a name with Monarch.

Postby Chris221273 » 05 Jul 2012 20:48

Hey all,
Just a bit of advice, make sure the names on your passports are the same as your flight tickets.
My eldest daughter is coming this year (15yrs old) and her mum sorted renewing her password.
She has always had my surname but for some reason her mum changed it at some point via deed poll without telling me.
And now, having just booked our flights, I've found this out and so the ticket And passport name are different......and they want £100 to type in a different name!!!!
When it rains it pours!!!!

Blimey Chris, that's all you need, NOT, eh?!
Good job you got your flights cheaper and at least the exchange rate's high!

You may be able to get away without changing it......it happened to me when I got married and the airline said as long as i had the documents to prove the name change at the airport

It's not Monarchs fault and it is in the T&C's when you booked your flights, I know thats not the answer you are looking for unfortunatey.

When I got married I booked the honeymoon and entered my wifes details in her new name, I was not thinking my wifes passport was in her maiden name however they accepted the passport in the maiden name together with the marriage certficate. I know this was in 1989 but check to see if they will accept the passport in the new name with the deed poll document.

Good shout Dave - I seem to recall that names on passports can vary from names on tickets/bookings, but only in a limited way? eg middle name missing
