Lots of mosquitos in
Icmeler this year...
Use a plug in deterrant
OFF - is the local mozzie spray - spray before you go out and again before you get in bed
Take anti-histimines one week before travel and continue to take throughout the holiday
Eat garlic, use lemon juice
Keep the balcony light on - if you must have windows open this distracts them to the light

Last year when I went to Turkey, they were selling little wrist/ankle bands on the plane, that were supposed to stop mozzies biting.
We didn't buy them as we don't usually get bitten but I got a few bites mainly around my ankle area and mostly at night I think.
Has anyone used the wrist/ankle bands and do they work?

I got bands from poundland and didn't get bitten on my legs at all when I wore them, and I always get bitten no matter what I use or take. They didn't much go with anything though so I only wore them with maxi dresses, ended up bitten with shorter dresses, serves me right I guess!

I used the wristbands a few years ago and still got loads of bites,i now use Avon SSS body oil the green/blue bottle.Got a couple of bites last year but this was during the day, always use a plug in mozzie deterrent in the bedroom.

I usually suffer from mozzie bites a lot. But everytime I've been to
Icmeler I have come back with very few. Due to them spraying the town to keep them away. There really isn't many mozzies at all.

Kitten, I am also a 'mossie magnet' but didn't get one bite when I was there in June.
Years ago I used the 'plug in' in the room and sprayed myself with repellent every night before I ventured out. Now, I take garlic capsules (the whole year round) and never use either the 'plug in' or any repellent.
Mind you, I make sure I travel in long trousers as the airport can be quite bad and I try to avoid places where there is lots of vegetation.
I think they do very well in
Icmeler with the spraying. A few years ago I ventured to Olu Deniz, took all the precautions and came back covered in nasty blisters.

Find
Icmeler pretty good due to the fact that they spray every street every night. Trouble is if you are prone to bites nothing seems to stop them, all you can do is take all the above precautions, cover up at night and keep away from the woods and try to enjoy. Glad I'm not made sweet, they dont seem to take much notice of me.

Dont laugh but someone has told me to try rubbing Vicks vapour rub on ankles before venturing out. Apparently it contains camphor which mozzies absolutely hate! Personally never been bitten but my daughter had a couple of nasty bites last year. Got the Vicks packed!

Bloody pregnant females you see!! Used stuff called 'Jungle' very effective but not too pleasant to begin with smell wise; just bought 'Afterbite' for the bites supposed to be good, normally use Anthrisan. Don't think anything really prevents them biting, supposed to be more attracted to people who are highly sexed - so there you go !!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we were there in June I got bitten a few times. The last few years I haven't had any bites. This year we only saw them spraying the streets twice in the two weeks we were there so maybe they've cut back.

During the night the lorry used to go around spraying this thick smoke that smelled like creosote but haven't seen this in a years now but it certainly worked; locals, businesses, pubs & hotels can phone the council & complaint about their prevalence & then they go out spraying.

Apparently, mosquitos are attracted to the colour blue twice as much as to any other colour.

I doubt very much they see colour as they are drawn towards body heat

We're in
Icmeler just now and haven't had any problems with mosquitos. We always use boots insect spray with 50% DEET and it's never let us down.
