I never pack until the day before we fly. However as we have 3 spare bedrooms I have one I call our holiday bedroom where I get everything ready. Clothes all washed, ironed and ready to go in the case along with everything else we need. Hope you have a brill hol. We came home exactly a week ago after 16 nights in heaven - now on countdown to our return 9 weeks today!

Made my check list this morning. Day off this Tuesday, so the packing will begin on Tuesday morning. Going to Paradise on Friday the 27th July. Just buying the odd dress off Ebay tonight just in case I don't have enough already (ha ha ha), same story every year. My husband likes that phrase "just in case"!!!! "in case of what". Do all you ladies agree with me?

We fly on the 16 July so I got the other half to get the cases out of the loft yesterday. Omg!The big one was so damaged....we had a week in Tunisia from Luton late last year and hadn't noticed.I was straight on to the debenhams sale and ordered two more.Thing is I think at my time of life I need matching luggage  the other two cases, one damaged and the other perfect, are now on the charity shop door step after phoning all the kids to see if they wanted them.So now I have to wait for the new ones to come. After tomorrow I work two massive shifts and then down to my daughters to look after her two babies and back here friday night....so when do I pack?Start saturday. But I think as long as everything is clean not too much of a problem. :)

We've been home 3 weeks, back in just under 6 - I bought a clothes rail about 8 weeks before we went and started with the ironing then. I hate ironing with a passion but don't mind doing the holiday ironing so much, as long as I don't have to cram it all in the last week, so now I'm a bit more organised. When we returned I started again with the holiday washing - ironed it and put it ready to go in the cases on the rail. Tshirts are folded ready to go in, socks and undies on standby. Toiletries all purchased, everything ready just sat looking at the cases.

IMO you can't have too many dresses, just in case, and particularly given that the OH didn't wear 9 of his tops last time, I'm booting them out next time to make room for a few more! I'll probably try it all out for weight the week before we go, then take out the hanging stuff if it's all ok, stick it back on the rail. We're flying Saturday afternoon next time, so it'll probably all go back in on Friday night :)

Love the replies, definitely a woman thing, being organised and making sure there's plenty of room in the case for our essentials!!! Noodles why didn't I think of getting a clothes rail :? , needless to say just back from Argos with two rails in tow, 17 year old well chuffed with it in his bedroom (not). Fab idea, just need to iron and hang now. Hope all who are soon to depart on their trips a happy holiday :D :D

You are all so organised. You put me to shame
I wash and iron( for me, husband and 2 children) the day before and pack the morning we go. If the flight is silly o'clock I do pack the night before.

Re: Dresses. I agree, you can never have too many. The same goes for shoes.

im usually so organised and excited that i have the cases out of the loft months in advance, clothes bought ironed and waiting to go in the cases, this year however im soooooo unorganised, just seems that the months are ticking away so fast...we fly end july, iv not even bought any holiday items yet!!! not like me atall! dont get me wrong im sooooooo excited to go as love the place but just seem to be meeting myself coming back (dont know where from tho! hahaha),
might make a point of getting the suitcases out this week that should push me along nicely! :D

I usually start packing about a week before - suitcases out of loft and a wash & dust - check locks and check spare set of keys.
Then items start getting put in as they're washed - usually just a quick spin in the washer for a freshen up for things that we only take on holiday like our beach towels and certain items of clothing.
The main stuff is usually the day before and then a quick check on the day we fly.
To be honest, providing you have the essentials most everyday stuff can be purchased abroad so not a big deal.

To be honest, it doesn't take that long and I find that having the cases out much longer than a week makes the days drag as i look longingly at them wishing my life away lol.

So in 2 weeks time, the cases will be coming down. :D

I got back on the 22nd June and I have all my holiday washing done and hanging up to dry. As I live in a flat its a pain in the **** as there is no room, but I'll leave all that to dry and as I am off again on July 31st, I will iron and pack as soon as I can to get it done. Dresses are the last thing to go in as I hate it when they are all creased at the other end. But, I like to be done and dusted early. All my toiletries are bought and suncreams too so I am pretty much half done already :D

I must ask the wife - I'll get back to you !!

:D

Honest answer - I put out what I want to take, then pack away what the wife discards so she can pinch half of my suitcase!!
