Hope you will not be as disappointed as we were in the new stalls, there are about fifteen in a square, none of them of much interest, the stall owners looked as uninterested as we did, perhaps because they did not seem to have any customers. Quite a lot of them are still unoccupied, the locals say this is because the rents are too high. A big let down after the old ones, did not persuade us to go and visit them once in the evenings.

Same old story about the high rent. Let's hope that these don't end up being demolished again, just like the ones on the marina by the Golmar.

During my visit I only looked around the market stalls once - mainly to see if I could purchase a new handbag, but there was not a lot of selection even though there were three handbag stalls!.
I then turned my attention to the jewellery stall at the front and the hosts of the stall were very welcoming, offering cold drinks whilst I tried on most of their wears... He said so he can see what it looked like on someone, there was no pressure to buy, however, I fell in love with a silver necklace and earing set with pearls which was similar to a Tiffany & Co set I'd seen - so I purchased it - being first customer of day I obviously receieved the 25% discount as well as having the money fanned all over me for luck ( to them) this is a tradition I've not seen before...
Take a look at the jewellery stall - and try on some of the lovely peices!! I recommend it!!

The stalls are nothing like they used to be, They used to run quite far down the canal and it was nice for a stroll before or after your meal. Now they are right at the bottom of the canal and although they are starting to fill up there does not seem to be many bargains to be had - maybe due to the rents that they are paying. Definitely lacks the charm of the old canal (although a big improvement on last year).
