Price of flights for 2013

Postby smc4761 » 16 Jun 2012 14:57

just had a look a flights for next May and cannot believe how expensive they are. Cheapest from Glasgow was £540 each. If they do not come down significantly looks like we wont be going to Turkey next year

Does anyone know when Easyjet summer 2013 flights are released

thomas cook did this last year at this time and all they want is for you to book the full package from them as of course looks cheaper

When the prices drop and you do your diy with their flights and staying at the places they use its actually cheaper

Wait till they drop or look at jet2 from Scotland and the Newcastle flights were not bad priced

I took the plunge and booked Monarch for next July/August 2013 a few weeks ago, yes they are expensive but we have reduced our hols from 17 nights to 14 to cover the extra cost, my flights have actually increased in price since I've purchased them, Jet 2 lowered their prices when Monarch came out, Thomson and Thomas Cook prices are horrendous.

I think with the frighteners about TC and the demise of AegeanFlights cheap flights are a thing of the past. It still worked out cheaper than booking the whole package with TC.

I just checked the internet for cuurent prices for Manchester to Dalaman
Depart 29th July 2013 return 12th August 2013

Monarch
Standard Night Flights £286 plus Luggage
Standard Day Flights £330 plus luggage
Extra leg room seats, 23Kg Luggage, Online Checkin Night Flights £374
Extra leg room seats, 23Kg Luggage, Online Checkin Night Flights £418

Jet2

Standard, late day flights £319 plus Luggage

Thomson

Standard day flights £469 plus luggage

Thomas Cook

Standard day flights £542 plus luggage

Dave, we paid approx £600 for this year, flying from Manchester on the 27th July for three and a half weeks. So the price for next year with Monarch sounds quite good. Would you suggest booking now? We usually try and book one year in advance. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

We used to book a year in advance as well. As things are I don't think we'll be able to visit in 2013. In future it may be a holiday every other year unless things improve :( But then a lot of people can't go at all so we should count ourselves lucky I suppose. There will be a big impact on all the resorts though as the numbers visiting will drop and I suppose the amount given in tips will go down as well.

In the past I would have said the early bird gets the worm but I am not sure now, I have booked, maybe it's a mistake but I am happy with the price, I reduced my holiday from 17 to 14 nights and this has covered the extra.

I was looking on skyscanner while we were out there in May - it's a BIG risk for sure, but if you've got the nerve, you could have flown home on a number of flights up to 3 days in advance (dlm to man) for around £30. Huge risk just having incoming flights I know, but a massive saving if you like a bit of an adrenalin kick too!

If it was just the wife and I and we were retired so work was not an issue I would definately try this but with four kids in tow, plus two other familys in the same party it's not possible, there wouldn't be enought seats.

Good idea though thanks for sharing.

Returning to the initial question, it seems they were not released yet. There is no safe rule to predict when will it happen. Kirky, why do you expect them in December?
The July/August 2012 flights were released on 15-22 September 2011, but there is no guarantee it will happen the same this year. You have to check their website regularly and try to book them. Otherwise, there is this website - http://www.lowcostroutes.com/en/flights ... airline=14 - that sends you an email as soon as the EasyJet flights for a certain route/date are released. I personally use both methods, just to be sure!

Either way, if you didn't already booked with Jet2, Thomas Cook or other airline, you should decide now the exact dates and persons flying and prepare your credit card! It seems that once Easyjet will release the summer schedule, it will be a big competition for the cheapest seats. There are many other travellers, like you and me, waiting to book!

I,VE booked with monarch for next May and got 17 days cheaper than 14 days from LGW to DLM, worked out at £570 for 2 of us with 20kgs pre checkin extra legroom and meals, good deal for us as what we saved on 17 days compared to14 days pays for the extra 3 nights in the apartment,so 3 extra days in Icmeler yippee .Rog

When we booked late this year for September we were looking for 7 - 9 nights but 11 nights was cheaper.

The main issue with flight prices is as usual the school holidays, we fortunately only have another two years of this then it will be June and Sept for us from then on.

Depends on who you ask, I personally think they will survive but I hate their seat pitch so would rather fly with others.

Thanks for the tip, being from Tameside we're well placed for Leeds Bradford, I'll look into it, just one question, are the savings worth it when you factor in the cost of long term parking?

Well I checked it out, Jet2 and Monarch from Leeds Bradford comes in £80 more expensive than Thomas Cook from manchester using skyscanner, I'll keep looking daily though until i'm ready to book :)
