Has anyone been to Mugla and the market? Thinking of going this year for a trip out.

Yes Mary we went last year. One of our friends lives there but works in Icmeler, so we were invited to have breakfast with the family at Mugla. It is an university town with, as you say has a market. I suppose it is nice day out, but I don't think I would go again in a hurry.

There are a lot more interesting places round Icmeler than Mugla, but from there you can catch a dolmus to some of the small villages where you can see rural Turkey, where the women work in the fields with primitive tools and bake bread, and the men sit and watch and drink cay. It's a world away from the tourist resorts. Drivers at the local bus station will be happy to tell you where to go, and drop you off. Don't be surprised if someone invites you in for tea then brings all the neighbours round to have a look at the "yabancis"!
