Pretty sure that it is 18, but he won't have a problem getting served alcohol in most places - as long as he doesn't go daft and get absolutely plastered.

I had a quick search of the internet and the most consistent answer i found was you are able to drink distilled drinks, which include beer, from the age of 11.You cannot purchase alcohol until you are 18.

Never just take any facts from wikipedia, always double check from a reputable website. Schools and colleges advise students not to base any facts for their work from this site. Our local college even gives you your work back if there's anything from wikipedia in it. Not saying that it's wrong information, just that you need to verify it elsewhere. Incidentally on their website it says '18 [2] ' for Turkey and the [2] means illegal for Muslims which obviously isn't enforced.

No idea, but if the staff at ICR can't help, a telephone call to the Turkish Consulate in London should give the answer. I spoke to them once a few years back and they were very helpful.

I'm not sure of the legal limit but I know I went out to Icmeler when I was 16 with two of my friends and we got drinks everywhere no problem. Even in the supermarkets. Although, we never went stupid and got ridiculously drunk. Perhaps if we had been, then we might not have got servered.
