I have booked a week in June, it's all inclusive. From what I've read you dont really need it as alot of people seem to be going self catering.

I do wanna go and explore so won't be at the hotel much but for the £90 difference, surely it was worth it? :/

I should imagine you could drink more than £13 quid a day even if it was soft drinks

i went all inclusive in 2010, i found the hotel i stayed at was not what i was expecting for all inclusive (same salad/chicken every day) and the drinks were only at certain times we ended up eating out everyday and night. so i have decided to go self catering this year as i like to try a different variety of foods/drinks and no be limited to what i have. I think it depends on were you stay, Hope this helps

Yeah I guess so, that's how I look at it anyway.

But almost everyone goes self catering, must be the old timers who know how to get a cheap flight and accomodation! lol

By the way, great weather reports! The temp at the moment seems awesome, I should be in for a scorcher at the end of June

Yeah I see what you mean, I've never been on an all inclusive before anywhere so this may be a learning curve lol

I'll just see how it goes, I'm taking more then enough anyway with the exchage rate and all so will eat out more then planned if it comes to it. Thanks alot x

Ive stayed at the Marti Resort Hotel four times and apart from the first occasion i have always gone AI, this was for the free drinks all day tea/coffee/water & alcohol (too expensive else). Evenings i ate out as like most forum members i enjoy eating at the various places in Icmeler

Will certainly be eating out every night, just use the hotel for the odd breakfast and lunch. Like you said mainly for the alcohol. I suppose it was worth the extra £90 after all now thinking more about it haha

Excactly what we do, breakfast and coffees and snack during the day on AI, then out inthe evening for meals at different places, and off to bars for drinks till late, as said before only £70 more each week, cant loose..Rog

I think everyone has their own tastes and their own ideas of what they want for their holiday, hence why there are so many options to choose from. Personally we wouldn't benefit from even that small a difference in price as we tend to use our accomodation as a base for sleeping and showers and not a great deal more. We tend to wander, AI would feel too restrictive for us I think, not tried it in Turkey to be fair, it's just how we feel about it. I can certainly see the merits though.

BTW, I'm pretty good at finding decent flights and cheap accomodation, mainly so we can holiday more than once a year - don't consider myself an "old timer" though!!

Yeah thats like us - we use the accomodation as a base for sleeping and maybe the entertainment on a night time if there is something on but other than that we like to be out and about during the day exploring so unless there wasn't any difference in the price we wouldn't really use everything available on AI. It all depends on what you do on your holiday

We would never consider going AI, we don't like to be tied to when we eat and we like to be out and about, There is plenty of places to eat, various prices depending on what you want and it keeps the locals in work.

wouldnt go all inclusive in icmeler as there are so many lovely restaurants to try
but for a little bit of a difference it might be worth it just to get soft drinks and ice creams
things like that that end up adding a lot onto your bills

al incl what you make of it we went to gumbet and had a great time food to die for had trout beef wellington ect and enough turkish food to choke a donkey we went out for our drinks sometimes but i must say that this year a few more hotels have gone al in and it is effecting some of the places but being pensioners we know we have our food and drink paid for and the extra money we take we can spend it without worries on holiday i love icmeler and i think it would spoil it if to many place went allinclusive

IM thinking about AI for 2013, will be still eating evening meal out and drinks too , lunches when out and about. its around £150 more for 2 off us to go AI compared to BB we spent £140 in teas/coffee just a few each day at hotel so my next question is would that be inc in AI options

We are trying AI in Icmeler for the first time this year for 14 days in July (5 weeks & 5 days to go). It is only costing £12 per day each more than the cheapest Self Catering I can see from the company we are using.
As it it includes "Local wine, beer, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks for a minimum of 12 hours per day" as well as the usual 3 buffet meals, and even though we will most probably eat out each night I don't see that £12 being wasted.

We are trying Icmeler this year and going all inclusive also . went all inclusive last year to Hisourna and used the all inclusive all day for drink and food, and went out every night for drinks and entertainment as was dire at the hotel. So will do the same this year and i agree with the rest its not that much more thgan s/c ...6 weeks the day can't come quick enough as this weather is dire here

Think it all depends on the individual - personally, I wouldn't go AI to Icmeler, as we like to eat out in different places every day, and there's no way we would drink enough (soft or alcoholic) to justify the extra money. I can see the advantages in AI if you have children or drink a lot, but it's not for me. But hey, it'd be a boring old world if we all liked the same things.
To me though, Icmeler has so much more to offer than AI - but each to their own, I guess...

There is 7 of us going 3 of them are kids , so all inclusive is good for us, when kids have flew the nest we will go back to s/c lol...

I can never understand it when people say 'I would never go AI' because 'I don't like to be tied to the hotel' or 'I like to explore' or 'I like to try different restaurants'

I like to do all of the above and you are not locked in the hotel lol!

I have done AI in Icmeler and as some have mentioned the difference in the price was quite minimal - we would have breakfast and coffees, a couple of beers in the afternoon and a couple of drinks at night before going out to a restaurant. We would have spent more than the daily AI rate if we had been paying for all those thrughout the day.

People have to budget for what suits their purse in the present climate.........90% of my holidays are SC but I wouldn't rule out AI if the price was right although I sometimes wonder about the local economy if AI Hotels were to take over completely.
