i dont think that they are in use or legal tender anymore
not 100% on this so might wanna look into it further but have a feeling that they have been taken off value wise
hope this helps and makes sense

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine, who was not coming to Turkey that year, asked me to change some old notes. I asked around and was advised that the only bank which would change them was in Marmaris. I cannot, unfortunately, remember the name of the bank but if you take the Dolmus and get off at the Attaturk monument and walk to the lefthand side of the quay where all the boats/ships are, the bank is there. They changed the notes straight away and my friend was pleased with the exchange rate at the time. Hope you are successful :)

I'm 99% sure I read something recently that said the old Lira notes could no longer be swapped over and are pretty much worthless. If I come across it i'll post the link.

No, I was wrong, it looks like they can be exchanged up to 2016 :)

Thanks Catalonian!

We were in Marmaris in 2004 and did not return to Icmeler till 2009. We had some old Tukish Lira and didn't bother to take it with us then or in 2011 as we thought it was valueless, but after reading the link you put on I went to look and see if I still had it, I have got 57 million (old) lira, so this year I'll take it and see if I can change it.
Not millions alas but enough for some extra effes :D

If you were in resort at the same time I'd buy you one too
