Thinking about moving to Icmeler

i'm really thinking about moving out there next year, now i've come back to england i feel like i don't belong here anymore, it's really wierd!


would this be a mad idea or should i go for it? can anyone give me any advice about moving abroad (getting a job, a place to stay etc) it would be appriciated (sp) as i am seriously considering it!

Thats such a great idea, I love it in icmeler and im thinking bout maybe going to work out there next summer, so im trying to find out the same sort of stuff, where would be best to stay and how do you go about looking for a job?????, there are quite a few websites iv found with some jobs advertised, but the only prob is there all for this year. I typed in working in icmeler on google and that brought up loadsa info.
How many times have you been to icmeler??? It was our 3rd time this year for a holiday and I love it even more every time I go. Now im home wish I could go back sooner, but have to wait till next year now, for the next hols.................

i've only been once and i absolutley loved it, the whole way of life is so different from england, i've only been home a day and i can't wait to go back. i'm going to learn turkish and save some money and then go over next year. do you think it would be best to go at start of season to look for a job or just before the start of the season like late april?


i was so sad when i got back home yesterday and this idea of moving out there has been the only thing that's cheered me up, it's so strange because i've never had that feeling about a place before

That's a great idea, I would love to own a place out there and just go whenever I wanted to! I can't imagine me working there though in the middle of August when the heat is really on but it would be a good experience.

Hi all i too love icmeler, and would love to live there but speaking to a few turkish people, they say that icmeler is a different place in winter, they get quite a lot of rain hence the greenery, but i dought that there will be a lot of work off season, so i think the ideal would be live there and love it in summer, but return here and then look forward to a nice summer over there the year after, set up a nice little summer buisness would be nice something like a hire place or something like that.(im dreaming) it would be a nice thought though. johnboy

I'm going on Monday and looking for renting an apartment for next year.
I've been going to Icmeler for 8years now,2/3times a year,so know alot of people that will look out for me if need them.
I'm going for the season next year and i cant wait..have been offered various jobs already,but really just hoping to go for long holiday.
I have been to Icmeler in the winter..well March this year and it was alot different,but what i expected,still loved it though.

Cant wait to get there now

I know alot of english that are working in Icmeler.
Footballers Wives bar near to Ayra aparts are part english owned,lovely couple Ian and Les,have sons Gaz that is doing kids rep in Julian Forest and Josh was working in Majestic,not anymore.
Know a few girlies doing the transfer repping and some working in bars.
Cant wait to see them all again

Hey, think i'm like three years late but I would definately persue the idea to move to Icmeler. I'am currently training to be a hairdresser and should be finishing soon, so when i go out this year in may i'am looking for a job in a hair salon over there and have already seen an apartment out there i wish to purchase so should all end up well. But I only turn eighteen in February so need to hang on a bit to put the deposit down!

imagine the relaxing lifestyle you would have, and all the warm sunny days
a relaxing job with no stress
i would go for it if i was you

I too would like to live in Icmeler but to live there you would need quite a bit of money the cost of living food etc is the same as england.We have our own place out there and will one day live there it is a totally different way of life and as mentioned it is like a ghost town in winter and can rain for days on end.The nights can be very cold even for us english. I have a lot of friends out there that live there but would not work here as the pay is so little even in the summer months the Turkish look out for their own first making it very hard for you to work legally and earn a decent wage.Having said that if I was young I would probably give it a go as England has had it as far as I am concerned.The turkish visa also makes it hard especially as there won't be any flights directly to Dalaman in winter and they are going to stop you going to Rhodes to renew.Good luck and I hope it works out for you it would be a far better life than the rat race here but you do need a little money behind you to succeed so get saving!!I am waiting for the lottery and then I will be on the next plane.My husband would go tommorow but my head rules my heart

Just to correct Jordan on one thing.

It is not the same cost as living in the UK.

We pay a couple of quid for liver here and £12 a kilo in Turkey.

Beef is also dear and lamb, well forget it as its something like £9 a lb

Veg and fruit is ok though.

Red meat is that expensive so that is why you see so many places offering very cheap meals with chicken

That means that liver is £5.45 a pound in Turkey making it more expensive than England also every day expenses i.e Tea ,butter,sugar milk etc are more expensve and I am only pointing out what my english friends who have been living there for five years tell me.While I agree certain things are cheaper electric is also more expensive.

It's a fantastic idea indeed, but you should deffo consider what you'll do in the winter time.
It's lonely, the weather is terrible, and you'll be dying to come back home!
Trust me, i've done it all before.
last winter the weather was so terrible i found a massive crack down the side of my house due to an
Earthquake..
But don't let me have any effect on you, if you fancy it, do it!
You only have so many chances, and you'll never know if you dont!
