How far to walk to Marmaris please?

Postby JayPay » 02 May 2012 18:09

Hi, my husband and I are coming to Icmeler in two weeks time and really looking forward to our holiday. We have heard you can walk on the front to Marmaris. Is this an easy, flat walk please and are there any bars to have a drink or two on the way? :D

Thanks for any replies.....

Hi,

My wife and I generally take the walk every year but after the first time when we walked back from Marmaris in 40+ degrees we have now learnt our lesson and now walk in the morning before it gets too hot.
It is reasonably flat and easy and should take you approx between 60 - 90 minutes. The bars start to appear once you get into the outskirsts of marmaris (approx half an hour into the walk). Rather than walk both ways we usually get the boat or dolmus back.

Enjoy

Hi - like everyone else would suggest the morning. Used to take me 45 - 60 minutes - but it depends how far you want to go into Marmaris. Lovely walk - fantastic views - make sure you take your camera!! :D

I usually get the Dolmus to Marmaris and walk back as the view of the bay as you come round the final bend into Icmeler is beautiful.
Theres a lovely bar with a garden where you can sit and enjoy the view. :)

Would love to do this walk. Ok for me as I'm on a powered scooter, my poor OH would struggle with his walking stick. Anyone know where I can hire a trailer to put behind my scooter

Have been coming to Icmeler for the past 12 years and walked it the last six years usually do the walk at least once over the fortnight, both now in our seventies but I do manage to walk to harbour husband has been usesing a mobility scooter for the last three years, usually start off about 8.30 and first stop is breakfast and then a few drinking stops on the way, made a mistake one year and husband set the pace (never again), so usually takes us a few hours, we then get a taxi boat back, the lads are very helpful by lifting scooter on to boat

I would say a 'must do' when you leave icmeler via the path along the promenade you have a gradual rise (do not let this put you off) as the views become spectacular, plenty of places to stop - look out for the outside ice rink at Marmaris Palace !!!!

We've done the walk and loved it.
Take your time and enjoy the lovely views.
We did it in August last year, at about 11am......and it was ridiculously hot!
Have to say, we both felt a bit faint by the time we arrived in Marmaris.
But that was nothing a nice fresh fruit juice and brekkie couldn't sort out.
Be wary of the very nice man who offers you grapes along the walk, as he'll give you a taster, but then expect you to buy a punnet of them......8tl I think he wanted.
Dragon, why not hire a mobility scooter for your OH!
I believe buffalos rent them out! Then you could both scoot along at your pleasure.

Yes best to do the walk in the morning, it's up to yourself's
how long you take, as there's plenty place's to stop for a drink
on the way. We usually set out early morning, have a breakfast
as we come into Marmaris, a few drink stops, then the dolmus
back to Icmeler. If it get's to much, or to hot, just walk up one
of the side streets to the main road for the dolmus to
Icmeler.
