Think positive it just means that all you're Turkish friends will have more time to spend with you.

It was the quietest I have ever seen it when we were there last week. :)

Means that you are more likely to get a good table at a restaurant! and a good sunbed on the beach

Was quiet the 1st week we was there last August but picked up the 2nd week.

I'm just debating here whever to make a gamble, and book my flights for next year and then take a chance and try and find apartments when we arrive. I know it's a gamble but I honestly don't believe that every single apartment in Icmeler was full the 2 weeks we was there.

Regards,

TIMUK.

You have lost me a bit here Tim.

Wh y would you want to take a chance on trying to get accommodation when you arrive.

Do you think it would be cheaper as it definitely wouldn't.

I sell 18 apartments in Icmeler and the dates you were here we never had a room anywhere because I make sure that I fill them.

If you think you may get into say the Babadan which is contracted to Thomsons I think then no chance as even if they have empty rooms its more than their contract is worth to seel you a room because if a last minute booking comes through then you will be hoofed out and homeless

Even with the bird flu thing this year August was full and will be every year as bookings are actually up already for August next year so my advice is if you want a specific accommodation then book it now or if you want to take the chance then of course that is lso up to you but only the rubbish places are left sometimes.

This year is no exception as in people doing block bookings like 6 rooms booked in one go for Tuncay out of 7 and already someone I know from Liverpool on their first trip to Turkey at the Rhodes has only been home a week or so and booked 8 aparts there for next August.

Anyway if you want it book it

Hi Tim.
I also thought there were more people in Icmeler the two weeks in August we were there at the side of the last 2 or 3 years.

I have had my flights for May and August for next year booked since last April.
If you fancy any accomodation in particular I would book as soon as possible.
I think next year could see a big increase in the demand for holidays in Turkey.
The people, the scenery, exchange rate and lower cost of living also for the people who have been and now passing the word on what a wonderfull place Turkey is,I think holds well for the future for Turkish Tourism.

See you next year Tim, Then you can show me how to take good piccies like the ones you do.

Ten years ago in Icmeler after you had had your evening meal, most people chose to promenade along the sea front.
The prom used to be packed solid with holidaymakers but mainly of German nationality, then came the uniforcation of the East and West and the German holidaymakers began to dwindle.
This left the British, Dutch and the scandanavian countries to adopt Icmeler as our own.
Turkey in the last few years has been hit with football hooliganism. earthquakes, depreciation of the Lira,Bird Flu and terrorism it has also seen the introduction of a lot of All Inclusive Hotels, all these things have affected the local economy.
But undaunted Turkey is still surging ahead in the holiday market and as I say I am expecting a huge rise in bookings this coming season.

Must not forget the new Dalaman Airport because the old one was a turn off for a lot of people and after its teething troubles its all systems go.

Bob,

Most if not all of the accommodations that you mentioned are contracted to the big agencies in the UK and I can't get a contract with them because of this and I struggle to find accommodation in the high season and would love to be able to book people into those places but the owners have to leave the rooms empty because they are under contract to the big ones.

Another thing I have only just thought of is isn't Bulgaria in the EU from 1st January (I could be wrong) and then they have euro and then that is the end of cheap Bulgaria so I hink that Turkey is then the only cheap place left.

John I've asked for the Tuncay 5 times now a couple through email (in different accounts).

As I have had no answer for the last cpl of weeks I thought I must have upset you again :?:

I've sent two emails to Sharon here in the UK, just that we have found some flights for the 3rd September onwards but no apartments as yet.

Regards,

Tim.
