Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Hi all

Well, I've had an interesting start to the year that has resulted in me having a paid for holiday for May that I either use just for me, or totally lose out on everything I've spent so far. After taking some time to think about it, I've decided to take the bull by the horns and come back to Icmeler alone. I'm booked in Avlu 1 which I'm seriously considering cancelling (I can do that and only lose a small amount) and booking a more central hotel - diva, private or somewhere round that area. Just wondering if anyone else was in a similar boat at the same time? I've promised myself some trips this time round and will more than likely book them through ICR - is anyone else booked on trips between these dates?

I'm quite ok on my own, but at the same time, it would be nice to know (albeit virtually at the mo!) some others there at the same time

Unfortunately I will miss you as I am there on my own from July 31st. I've been before but now I know what its like to go alone I am really looking forward to it. I can do exactly what I like, when I like. Go girl!!

Hi Nicola, I have been quite a few times on my own and have been fine and I was staying in the old village and always felt very safe walking back late at night. The only thing I didn't like at first was going into a bar/restaurant on my own to eat but after a couple of times it didn't bother me any more. I did find I got more respect from the waiters when alone- when I am with my friend or Sister we will get chatted up something rotten! Also I was not short of invites to join other holiday makers to their table/other bars/disco etc. You will be fine- enjoy doing and going exactly what YOU want to do for a change.

Hi Nicola we have stayed at avlu 1 and it is excellent and very central on the main road leading into icmeler I am sure you will be fine staying there .

You will be fine I have been to Icmeler a few times on my own. I am going there with a friend this time and we are going on the 15th June - 1st July and you would have been welcome to join us if you had been there at the same time. you will have a great time, dont worry.

Hi noodles. I have been going to Icmeler on my own for the last 5 years.I will be there from the 28th may till the 9th june.Staying at the Ekinci in the old village. If you want we can meet up but im sure you will find plenty friendly people to spend time with.

I'm tempted to travel on my own too, might join you!

How lovely you all are! Thank you for your kind words. I've been before on my own, but for the last couple of years it's been with OH quite a few times so it'll be weird as he knows everyone in Icmeler, so they'll all be asking where he is. I'm ok to stay at the Avlu, but that was his choice and we paid a bit more for it, I'm thinking about saving a few pennies, getting the refund on there, then booking a hotel for less - the difference will give me a few days of trips, and I really do fancy seeing a bit more of Turkey's culture seeing as I'm there for 2 weeks. Fancied the 2 day to Ephesus & Pammukule every time I go but not quite got round to it, and the new trip with ICR looks right up my street!

I've got til next week to cancel before I hit the next level of cancellation fee bracket, so I'll give it some more thought, although the diva is looking good to book through ICR

Maybe we could organise a get together for all the single ladies at the sizzler? We've already got a theme toon

At the risk of sounding sorry for myself, I will be on my own this summer in Icmeler as my wife and partner of 28 years has decided that she has had enough of me. (I don't blame her). Unless I can talk my 18 year old son into coming with me I will have two weeks at the Efendi flying solo. it is both daunting and exciting!

Personally, I am really looking forward to my week alone in July and September.

Hey Pedro. You are never alone in Icmeler.Sad to say but I go on my own all the time, and just love not having to answer to anyone. Go and enjoy yourself. Jac. xx

I went on my own for the first time last October for one week. I was really terrified, but I absolutely loved it so much that I am going back this year for three months. I have taken a sabatical from work for a year and kicking off my Travels in Icmeler, then who know's where I will end up going? I am making the most of life now that I am single and the kids have grown up. So go for it Pedro, you will have a great time and don't forget to go to the forum meet ups and mingle with the rest of us! Have a great time. Life is for Living!

I am in Icmeler from 4th of May until 31st July. My Mum and Daughter will be with me for the first two weeks and we will be staying at The Vela Hotel, then from 18th May I will be flying solo at The Mete apartments! I am really excited and can't wait! If any of you lovely people want to meet up for a chat/drink/dinner/boogie just let me know

I think we should arrange a time nearer our holiday. Deffo meet at Tandoori Sizzler and see if Levent and Hakan will keep a table for us all. Cant wait to be back.

Just seen your post I'm new on this forum, me and my sister are staying at the avlu 1 apartments in may we arrive 19th may till 2nd June so will be there for some of your time there, we haven't stayed here before but looks ok near to all shops and bars and restaurants, we are looking forward to it, we will look out for you let me know if you are still going and what day you arriving,

Sounds like there will be a few of us out there , would be great to organise a meet up for a drink and a chat be lovely to hear all your stories, I will be there from the 19th may to 2nd June with my sister staying at the avlu 1
