holiday in may

I have booked with ICR for my holiday in May but I booked a flight only with TC. For over a week now I have been trying to phone them at their suggestion to book wheelchair assistance and to book my walking frame on as additional luggage. I have listened to all their excuses on a dial a disc, eg updating their computer system, experiencing high volume of calls etc.I had enough difficulty making the flight booking and am not confident enough to chance trying to make these additional requests on the web. Is anyone else having problems getting through? I know I will have to pay an additional charge.

You're not alone Marjorie. I've been following with interest their page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/flythomascook and it seems everyone is having problems. I've been trying to book specific seats on our flight and today it came up with a message saying I couldn't book seats until I entered the API info which I duly did. Now its trying to charge me to book the seat and I've already paid for this as I bought a bundle (ie. luggage, meal and seat choice). Its really annoying!

Thanks for that info Dotty. I would say they are in a mess. I will just keep trying until I go on the 11th May. At least I have the tickets...................Lets just hope they have a plane for me to fly on. It really doesn't give me confidence to use this company again.

I have booked a one way flight with TC for June and the other day I had an e-mail from them saying I couldn't book my seats. What is weird about this is that I hadn't even tried to?? :(

I was initially worried I couldn't book seats - they changed the dates 3 times. I contacted them online on their live webchat, it's easy to find on tc holidays then they'll give you the right link for flights. Seems to me, now that I've managed to book the seats (and a day earlier than they said) that they are maximising what they have before firming things up, by that I mean they are looking at bookings and waiting to assign the appropriate plane to them. We're booked to go on a 3+3 configuration, but coming back, at the end of the bank holiday week at the beginning of June, we've got a 2+4+2, so a much bigger plane.

Try the online chat, doesn't cost and you usually get a very speedy response :)

I have got a response from T C after emailing them. They have given me wheelchair assistance, and isle seats for me and my granddaughter across from one another and extra leg room for me. No extra charge

The reason that there are so many problems with T.C is that they have all but shut down their own airline. The chances are that if you have booked with T.C you will be flying with a sub-contractor charter airline. That's the reason some people's dates and times are being significantly changed. They are using whatever and whoever they can get at a budget price to do the flights. Please remember that T.C are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.
