Police if you are stopped want to see a motorbike on thye bike of your car license.
If you get stopped at a road block and you do not have a motorbike on the back of your license then the bike will be confiscated
We do not rent motorbikes to anyone unless this is on your license

Of course you need a motorcycle license to legally ride a motorbike anywhere, it really is quite alarming for me to think that people assume if you can drive a car that you are safe on a motorbike. People often say they are dangerous but it's not the bike that is dangerous- however they are effectively killing machines if the rider is not in control.
You cannot hire one there without the motorcycle licence.

Thanks guys and just for the record chocoholic i am not an idiot and realise that you will need some motorcycle entitlement on your licence , i passed my car test 33 years ago and on my licence it gave you the right to ride a bike up to a certain cc i know that the car licence has now altered , i merely wanted to know if there were additional requirements in turkey , further i do not assume i could ride a bike ithout some form of training but as it is an entitlement of my licence in the uk i thought it prudent to check whether turkey had any seperate needs. I totally agree with you however that th danger is in the rider not the macine itself . Once again thanks guys

If you passed your car driving licence before 2001 then you have a full cat P entitlement (full moped licence) so can ride anything upto 50cc without restrictions. This may be different in other countries though!
