A nice place to eat

Hi all,

I go on tuesday for a week and was wondering where's a really nice place to eat for a birthday meal, i know all the restaurants in icmeler are lovely but i kinda want a special one if you know what i mean

Couple of suggestions for you, the Wayside, The Loveboat, Waterfall and Bonjour all seem to be liked by many on here. Cafe del Mar has wonderful views over Icmeler Bay

I have to say my favourites are The Bonjour or the Tandoori Sizzler, both these will make you feel welcome and if you tell them in advance they can arrange flowers,cake, table etc for you,

The Tandoori Sizzler is definitely very nice and the service is second to none. My second favorite would be The Winehouse Restaurant up the street behind The Venice Restaurant. Very relaxing environment and great food. They have a pickup service from your hotel.

I suppose it depends on whats open this time of year as we always go in August. To me The Loveboat looks to clinical, like a surgery to be honest. Never been to Wayside but you only have to look on here to know it's a big yes from a lot of members. The Waterfall I think is the biggest over hyped pile of crap in Icmeler, and it's not just me who thinks that. In the summer they play on the fact they have a waterfall, but theres loads of tables reserved so you never get near it, and the service the 3 years we have been there is awful...I've learnt now..never again. Why don't you try one of the Turkish cooking places.

If you like traditional Turkish food then it has to be HANEDAN - no question!

I second that Cassielucy, we ate there 3 times in August and couldn't recommend it highly enough.
If that's not your thing then what about Friends Restaurant, always a good night to be had there

the red lion is a good meal as well and never mentioned here has all the same staff as last year......

Jungle grill, Aqua hotel, outstanding quality and value, first class service, set in beautifully landscaped gardens , views over the beach to marmaris, a perfect evening out.

Will agree , had the chef,s special, very nice, a little spicy for my taste, advised to order the toned down version next time, but thumbs up for this restaurant .

Hi,
Just got back,
Best places to eat that we tried not just this year,
Lighthouse, Erdem Cafe, B+S next door, Venice,Bonjour,Hanedan, Majestic,Wayside, Harry Rams (chippy style), Masala.
We were disappointed with meals at Titanic, Tandoori Sizzler, Buffalo bar.
We were very disappointed with the Waterfall-avoid.
I will review all these and other restaurants when I do my full holiday review shortly,

If I were to be in Icmeler for my birthday, I would go to Bonjour without question. It seems more special than any other place and yes, it is slightly more pricey but I think you get what you pay for.

It is also true that if you book in advance, they will arrange to decorate the table with flowers etc. I have experienced this in Alanya before and did not have to pay for the privilage. it was very nice indeed.

Another place I would go to is Liberty which is at the end of the prom towards the lighthouse end. They have a pier and if its a lovely warm evening, it is lovely to sit and have meal on there, looking out across the bay of Icmeler with the twinkling lights and warm breeze. You do have to pre-book if you want a jetty table though.

Whichever you choose, I hope you have a fantastic birthday.

Have to disagree with you there - our meal there was the most disappointing we've ever had in Icmeler. My strawberry cheesecake bore no resemblance to any cheesecake I've ever had elsewhere. We also found the staff to be pushy and almost verging on rudeness. Needless to say, we've never been back!

Agree with Blondie about the Red Lion its not that great and not a palce to go if you are looking for something special. I have never been but would imagine that the Cafe del Mar would be a lovely setting for a special meal

Love the Cafe del Mar. The views are so beautiful they make your hairs stand on end. Had a drink there whilst we were there 2 weeks ago and it's stunning.

Hanedan is fantastic but the dishes are not necessarily very spicy, I had to ask for extra heat each time I ate there but I do have a bit of an immunity to chilli heat, lol!

If you walk from Tansas (Tansas on your right) up until the big crossroads with the traffic lights, turn right and continue walking (walk until you think you must have walked too far as it is more or less the furthest point on that road), the restaurant is on the right. It is an open plan restaurant, tables on the front.

One tip, the meze is very filing so bare that in mind when ordering your meals, we always over ordered, lol!
