Rate Today And All Money Questions

Postby jonnyb19782 » 14 Jul 2011 18:25

Might seem a silly question but how do you all carry your money from home. Not liking the thought of carrying silly amounts of money in my back pocket on the plane and to the resort.

What do all you experience icmelerites do?

As well as my little cabin size trolley case to carry on the plane I have a smallish bag with a long strap that I wear round my body over one shoulder and that way it is always with me. Dont know about that if are a guy but you can buy small messenger bags (not handbag lol) which I have seen (modern) men with. I also keep my passport with me in it and bag stays on my body until I reach apartment. I have never been told about it checking in and they have never classed it as my one piece of hand luggage.
AND....... it is not a silly question, is a sensible one. :)

Money belt type thingy round my waist for me. Always knew it was there. Passports etc on a small carry on bag round my shoulder. Wife had her handbag but preferred the money belt thing

I have my holiday purse. It is the only one I have big enough to carry all my lira notes, and its Louis Vuitton! :D
I then put this in my cross - body bag along with my passport and tickets etc. Until I get to the other end where I use a different bag depending on my outfit!! LOL

I would not trust putting any money in my hold luggage in case it got lost. I think the cross-body bags are the best option.

Why take the risk of carring lots of money when there are many cash points about....??????
Much safer to just take a little to get you started.

We withdraw English Notes from the HSBC ATM in the square and changed to lira at supermarket next to Tandoori Sizzler and always got a great rate. The Bank Of Scotland did not charge for withdrawals, however, as you say I think some do and it would be best to check with your bank. We were charged last year using the same card at a Turkish Bank whilst withdrawing liras. We are a bit wiser now :D :D

We tend to take our holiday money, in the form of turkish lira, some in travellers cheques and some in English, but the cash we take, we split between us, so that we are not 'destitute' if, heaven forbid, we did lose some. Belt and braces !!! :)

Money kept in a money belt that my husband straps around his waist underneath his clothes. I put a small amount into my handbag, then he doesn't need to start getting anything out of his moneybelt until we are in the apartments, then it's straight into a safe.
