icmeler 27th aug - 10th sept.

Postby ianstewart » 16 Sep 2011 12:06

hi all, just got back from a fab break sat/sun 10/11 sept i'm already missing the sights & smells of my 2nd home.
had a nice relaxing break stayed at the kapmar, well done to murat on the reception desk & ali waiting on us hand & foot in & around the pool area, quiet for august though i thought, i wonder why people keep saying great meals to be had @ the tandori sizzler i thought it was very poor to say it's supposed to be authentic indian but thats only my oppinion, hello again michele @ icr office, weather most days 40+ exchange rate high av 2.80. plenty of bargains to be had, best meal was @ the set i noticed not so many staff doing turkish folk dancing & shows in the bars.
but overall it was a great holiday.
will be back next year.

I agree with you about the tandoori sizzler, I don't know why everyone raves about it. We had the set meal and the pakoras were like bricks and tasted very sweet, not nice. We also felt very rushed with no attentionto detail like most other eating places. We were very disappointed.

hi yorkshirerobin, i cant coment about your meals @ the tandori sizzler only ours, i felt that they were not as good meals as i was led to believe by numerous people who had left feedback about them, i appreciate that where ever you go you may get a bad meal occasionly it was just our bad luck that night we went there, the food was very poor to say the least, but we had a far better meal @ the massala a couple of nights later.
now 2 years ago the massala was poor food & service.
i hope you had a bril time as we did.
just looking forward to next year.
kind regards.
ian.

Previous posts just prove that there's no accounting for individual tastes. Been coming to Icmeler now for a number of years and I folow the forums quite closely.
It is obvious that people have different tastes and very different ideas of what constitutes a good meal or even a good holiday. Personally speaking in the years I have visited Icmeler the two most disappointing meals I have had have been in the Loveboat and Kerem. Both places in my opinion vastly over rated and really not that good. I know that the vast majority of perople who read this post will no doubt disagree with this and I'm not posting this to start any arguments or squabbles amongst the faithful following but my advice would always be by all means read the reviews but read them with an open mind and ultimately make your own mind up.

PS also had some very good meals at Tandoori Sizzler and irrespective of recent negative feedback I will be eating there the next time I'm in Icmeler.

I ate at the tandoori sizzler in 2010 and didn't really rate it that much however I ate there in 2011 and must say it was the best meal I'd had in a long time. Top Kapi Kebab is definitely worth a try.
Each to their own everyone has different tastes.

I have to admit, I didn't rate Tandoori Sizzler that much but I also have to add within that sentence, me and Dad did leave it a little late to go in. We had been drinking in Bonjour and lost track of time so ended up popping across quite late. They only had a limited menu choice at that time and when the meals came I was not that impressed. There were no curries on offer either so cannot comment about the authenticity of their curry cooking. I had met one of the guys the night previous at Eden Gardens as he had come in for a drink but still actually didn't feel that welcome. Still, next time I will go in earlier to get the full benefit of the menu.

We went to try it twice, once at 8.30pm and a few nights later at 9pm, but the place was empty!!!
Sad to say we didn't try again.
Will go back there next year and try again.
Shame, because we like Indian, and although we only ate Turkish food all holiday we were quite happy to try it due to all the good feedback on here.
I know August was quiet due to the firms that went bust but guess we just expected it to be busier than it was.
We are happy to try anywhere, but didn't fancy being the only ones on there!
Also we did notice one night we walked past as we were cutting down the side street to get to buffalos that although there was maybe 8 tables filled nobody tried to entice us in!!!
Maybe more enthusiastic front men are required?!

Just have to say we really enjoyed our meals at the Sizzler...great for us as I like Chinese and he likes Indian! :D We both had the Topkapi Kebab I had chicken he had steak... and loved them.As for the drinks discount,it was great! Strangely for us we really rated the welcome from the lads that didnt disappear the minute we sat down.We felt very welcome and valued. Rare for us as a couple in our 50's and 60's.I am not posting this lightly as only Oz at the Dilhan and Messi on coco beach get this kind of high praise from me normally. I think Hasan and Levent are gems. We have just booked for next year and will be visiting them again so please give them at least one try. I hope you won't be disappointed. :)

hiya

i find it difficult to choose a favourite restaurant when on holiday as i cant remember ever having a bad meal in my 3 visits to icmeler. what i did find was, after we visited the sizzler for the 1st time this year we were back within a couple of days, and will be sure to visit it a few more times when we return next year.

We had 2 lovely meals at the sizzler. We were there in Sept and it looked packed most evenings apart from later in the evening.
I don't know the staffs names but I think it was either Hasan or Levent and they were always very polite to us when we were walking past, even if we weren't going in, still had the time to chat, lovely people. Will definitley be going back next Sept.

All in all will be back again to eat here and the drinks deal was fab :D
