Hi all,
Who's up for a "Scramble" to the flag between 12th and 23rd, excluding, 16/17/18. (boat trip/Sugar's Birthday/Gypsy Beach)................I nearly made it last year but was on my own, and the terrain was loose underfoot. Hopefully we can find the "Flip" ing way, pointed out by Mr mischief (Roger) and Adewolves. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=14511

Hi aliral, are you still up for a stroll thursday morning?? say 8.30 at Sabris, as you know were that is. It now looks like the flag is missing again, so we will go for the 'Pole'..... will check forum tomorrow.
Nice to meet you at the sizzler, and like Jed says it was a great turn out.
See you thursday,
Steve

Hi all, just got back from the pole, met a father and son up there (Scott & Charlie), my thanks to Ralph( aliral) for joining me on this "scramble" and what a scramble. We didn't go as far as the flipflop path, but turned at the painted arrow, from this point on Ralph turned into a mountain goat, leading the way through the bushes and thorns, just short of the top, two people (on a mission) passed as we found the right path, three minutes from the summit. It took 45 minutes going up and 30 back down, both times are to Tommys. Again thank you Ralph and will post pictures of the pole ( as the flag isn't there) when we return after the 25th September.

Well done guys. I went up there with my daughter last May and had a second attempt with the OH last October (although I didn't make it to the top that time). It really is a hard scramble. OH had a bit of a tumble on the way down and I got a nasty sting which required a visit to the doctor! Made us realise that it can be a bit dangerous so if anybody else is thinking of going up in the near future, make sure that somebody knows about your plans and can keep an eye open for you. We're due in icmeler in a couple of weeks time and OH has suggested taking the easy way up on the path at the back - not sure whether the beer had got to him or if he means it! Anyway, well done on your achievement!

Well done, loved our scramble up there in August, we also went through the brambles was hard work, but it will be the flip flop route next year. Brings back memories of a great morning when I read this thread, seems only yesterday when I was drinking a cold one in Tommys with my daughter and good friends after the climb, god I so miss the place.

Enjoyed our trip up to the flag pole, but as you said the path would have been the best way to go.
The start point is now well marked (flipflop included).
Cheers for the beer in Tommys, didnt touch the sides.
What is the next challange, or was that it.
