Postby mike361 » 04 Sep 2011 19:58

as i said i was looking to see what the local spirits are and drinks in general and come accross the thread regarding the vodka , is this still a ongoing concern over there or has it died down now??,only asking cause this is mostly all my partner will drink?

Many thanks

We drunk vodka in lots of bars/restaurants and didn't have any problems. None of the bar owners we spoke to said they'd had or heard of any problems with it in icmeler!

There was one bar where the Vodka just didn't taste right, we all had a sip and agreed it was a strange taste, we asked for it to be changed which they did but it tasted the same, we changed it again and they gave us Smirnoff for the same price. I heard of no one having issues while we were there.

They sell it in most places, but you pay more than the local vodka, its usually about 3 lira more.

Not too sure on the price of smirnoff and coke, but local vodka varies between 7 or 8 in most places, so probably around 11 or 12 for Smirnoff. To be honest, I never buy smirnoff, I just buy the local vodka, its fine.

i was worried about the vodka but never had any probs. a few were a bit on the strong side tho. had to get an extra redbull and a glass to dilute it. no wonder some people were bad. i dont think its dodgy stuff just to much in the glass. probably cos it cost more for redbull than it does for vodka these days

Had half a bottle of the local vodka left at the end of the holiday. Had the brilliant idea of pouring it into an empty bottle of sprite and bringing it home. Didn't want to bring the bottle because it was too heavy especially with the weight restrictions. Sunday morning I spotted a bottle of sprite in the cupboard and as I was thirsty I took a big gulp straight from the bottle. You guessed it, it was the vodka that we brought back in July. It gave me quite a shock as I was expecting sprite not a big gulp of neat vodka, and it was only ten o'clock in the morning and I hadn't even had my breakfast
