My daughter, has just come back from Icmeler this morning, the exchange rate is 2.90,but the prices of meals in the restaurants have gone up alot since last year, the average price for a meal was around 26 tl, and in the wayside it was30 tl for a steak,so if you haven,t been yet. be ready to pay more, but on a plus side the effes hasn,t not gone up, around 4 to 5tl,s.
have a nice holiday
chris :D

Chris, though I have been back in the UK a few weeks now, when I left you could get a beer for 2.50 lira and if you looked around a set menu for 14 lira and I even spotted fish and chips for 11 lira

Indeed, there are still some excellent value deals to be had, especially on the set menus. You just need to have a good look around.

We were there in June and I found the prices up slightly from last year, but you could still get 3 course set meals for around 15-28 lira, depending on what you had.

With todays exchange rate though, that would make it even cheaper than last year though.

30tl approx £11-12 for a steak, cheap in my eyes, and with no sleazy waiters, the Wayside is the only way to go.

When we left on Friday buffalos and champions were both doing efes at 2.50tl.....that's 85p a pint!!
Charleys does a beautiful set menu, 4 courses for 16tl....that's £5.47!!
As many have said, there are definitely bargains to be had.
The most expensive evening bill we had was 107tl.....but that did include a rather large amount of efes and cocktails, raki etc and still only works out at £36.00 for an evening from 7.30pm till 1am!!!
5 alcoholic drinks alone each would cost that in the uk!! ;-)
In fairness we tried expensive & cheap, and seriously couldn't differentiate between them for quality and service.

Got back last night and found our money went much much further than usual. We gauge things on how much we're spending and how much we've got left each day rather than comparing prices to last year.

Just done a quick comparison and a 26TL meal would be £10.40 based on last year's exhange rate of 2.5, but this year would be £9.29 at a rate of 2.8 TL or £8.96 at 2.9 TL which is what we were getting toward the end of our hol.

Set chicken meals were generally 16 or 17 lira in town and cheaper the further back you went in the old village.

honestly don't think these prices are bad at all

Draught efes is 2.50 lire upwards...2.5 is at the garden and Sugars and goes up but never more than 5. I think £30 for a steak in UK is way over priced and I work in a well known steak house.£7.99 during the day for a 10 oz rump.I would say our steaks are a lot better than most you can get in Turkey...don't touch them myself but know all about them and have tried the lot because thats my job and I've done it for years. My husband eats steak and eats it in Turkey but he would say to you can't beat where I work and a lot cheaper. Some good steak places in Icmeler but mostly better and cheaper here.

I'd have to disagree with juju - maybe it depends where you live, but I know for a fact I certainly couldn't eat steak of the quality I've had in Icmeler for anything like the same prices over here. I'm really fussy about my steak, and I've never had it cooked to perfection here in the UK the way they do in Icmeler. I wish I could eat in Icmeler every day.

Got back a week ago we were paying between 30 to 50 pound for set meals and a full evenings entertainment this included drinks all evening two adults two teens, this is a fact there is not a place in this country you can do that at evening peak times or any other times for that matter we took 2k spends came back with 300 I can honestly say we did everything boats quads jeep motorboat hire Stella etc etc.
Icmeler is cheap as chips FACT.

Agree with you Blondie. We have found the steak in Icmeler seems to be much better than here. We've tried many restaurants and always had steak cooked to our liking.

Hi Katie.

No reflection on your own work, but based on my experience of various Holiday Inns I think most people would only eat there if there wasn't another option available and they were on expenses! :)
