just returned from Icmeler

Postby clare » 21 Aug 2006 22:12

Hi all just returned from Icmeler last night. Wow we had a fabulous holiday once again. We stayed at the Devamli Hotel again and once again the service was excellent all the staff were great and made our stay the best.

We did have a few accidents this year, my 8 year old daughter gashed her foot on the skirting board in the room, we went to the chemist and they sent for a car to collect us to take us to the clinic, this was an experience I have never experienced before, she screamed the room down, but the Doctor was very good with her and was very concerned about infection. We had to return to see him again the next day but all was ok, apart from the cost of it all, 2oo lira but he has put our excess onto the bill so that we get it back, which I thought was very nice of him. Then two days later my 6 year old son was stung by a wasp and his finger all swelled up, then my husband fell down the stairs and hurt his back. But apart from all that we had a fabulous time.

We went on the jeep safari and it was excellent never had so much fun in my life.

I am getting withdrawal symptoms now lack of alcohol, by eck we drank alot this year, but hey we had a good time.

We had a meal at the Lemon Tree this was excellent the food was out of this world.

I must say though we had a bad meal at the Waterfall this year, we were so shocked as it was excellent last year. We waited one hour thirty mins for garlic bread, then my husband was being sick ten mins after eating his meal and the table at the side of us sent 8 meals back because the meat was raw inside. Does anyone know if it had new management from last year.

Well done surviving the accidents - perhaps the alcohol helped too! I was amazed at the service at the clinic too. I broke my foot a few years ago in Rhodes and had a bad experience not only at the hospital but the tour operator too. This year, my daughter and aunt had to have treatment and go to the hospital in Marmaris - service was excelent and with translation at the hospital.

Glad you had a great time despite the mishaps Clare ;)

The jeep safari is a must - apart from the recent accident, I have only heard good things about them. I cant wait to try it out myself :D

Im pretty sure the hotel im staying in, the Ege Hotel, is quite near the Devamli but I can barely find any info about it on the net. Did you see it at all during your stay?

Hi Caltonian, the hotel Devamli is the best hotel by far, the staff are so friendly and the rooms are marvelous they are cleaned to a high standard and you get some lovely displays with towels and petals, the maids are so friendly also. The food in the Loveboat is excellent all silver service and quite romantic and the waiters cannot do enough for you. I am sure you will enjoy your stay, we are booking soon to go back next year. Say a big hello to the guys in the bar for us, Ice, Michael, Mustaffa, Freddy and speedy from Clare, Rob, Georgia & Thomas.

It was our friends birthday whilst we were there and they made a cake for her and sang happy birthday she was well embarrassed.

Happy holidays wish we were still there I am feeling so sad being at home in the cold and rain it was 48 in the shade while we were there.

We too have just come back and like Claire had a mishap - my husband was taken to hospital with muscle spasms in his back, due to air conditioning. Have to say I don't think I have ever received such good treatment with regards to health. The ambulance arrived within two minutes and the staff at the Caria Hospital in Marmaris were first class. He stayed two days and have to say did put a dampner on our holiday. But hey there is always next year and funnily enough I have just booked the flights, bargain, 137.00 return from Gatwick, I am so chuffed.

We went to the Loveboat this year, I found the surroundings and the waiters in their uniforms "nice" but I have to say I had had better food elsewhere, but thats my opinion, the best meal I had was in the two sisters near the beach and the waterfall was good.

So hear goes to counting down the days to next year.
