I've mentioned before in previous threads that I always take a jacket with lots of pockets onto the plane with me. This means that lots of bits and pieces are in the pockets and they don't get included in the luggage allowance. By doing this I get an extra few kgs.

I've come across a Rufus Roo travel jacket which looks like a brilliant idea. For anyone interested it's found on

This sounds like a great idea as you can even fit a laptop in it. After seeing the photo of someone wearing the jacket I don't know if I've the courage to wear it

Think its aimed more at O'Learyair and Sleazyjet passengers!

Can you imagine how often you'd get asked to empty your pockets if you were wearing one of these?

Apparently, you take it off and put it through the scanners in the airport so you don't have to be searched and on the plane you put it in the overhead lockers the same as your other hand luggage.

After laughing about this jacket for a few weeks I've finally taken the plunge and bought one after reading that Thomas Cook strictly apply the one bag rule as hand luggage. We needed a solution as we take two extra bags with us for medical related items and can't risk putting them in the hold on the way out as they could get lost which would put an end to our holiday. So all of these can go in my Rufus Roo. I decided after reading you only needed to wear it whilst checking in and when boarding the plane. The rest of the time you just carry it like a bag, have a look at

With the charging for carrier bags in Wales since last Saturday I'm tempted to take it shopping with me when I pick up the courage. This charge is OTT as I thought it was because of saving the environment from the overuse of plastic carrier bags but they're even charging for paper bags even in such places as McDonald's. So i think it's the Rufus Roo to the rescue

It will only be banned if they ban all hand luggage as you don't wear it when you're searched, it goes through the scanner the same as your other hand luggage, jacket etc. It will only be a problem if we're banned from taking or wearing jackets or coats on the plane, or if they start to weigh us with our luggage

A few people have already worn one and taken the photos at our local airport, so I know there won't be a problem there
