Has anyone ever bought Turkish SIM cards for your mobile while there? Got 2 daughters who want to take their phones bought scared to death of 2 hefty bills when get back! They are on Blackberries but not sure how phones work to turn off the roaming. If I was to get them a SIM over there does anybody know how much you get for your money if they were to use the internet for facebook etc?
Any info gratefully received

the turkish sim card would work intially but when the turkish phone companies noticed after a couple of days that the phone was not registered as a turkish one they would block the sim against the phone
and the sim would no longer work
the phone needs to be registered as a turkish phone which takes a while and also against a passport of someone that is over 18
also once registered as a turkish phone the phone will no longer work as an english phone too
best bet is to buy a cheap turkish phone and buy a turkish sim to put in it
hope this helps
xxxx

Re the comment about buying a phone in Turkey. They are very expensive there. My Nokia C3 cost me £70 here but would have cost me £180 in the Tansas in Marmaris. That is the reason why people over there ask us to take phones over for them. Hope this helps. Enjoy your holiday. Take care
