Ridiculous!

Postby RebeccaAx » 08 Aug 2011 17:49

When do you think flight companies will lower their prices? It's beyond ridiculous. I had my hopes set that I would find a great flight for October, but as usual - no luck! I really, really need to be there for the 2ND/3RD but at this rate it doesn't look like I'll be making it out there at all. It really is unfortunate that so many people have lost out on holidays and have to pay another company three times as much as they originally payed. A real shame.

Rebecca.

Know what you mean Rebecca. Luckily we are already booked to go on 3rd sept and got a cracker of a deal with Travel Republic. Flights with Monarch and Selen 2 for just over 7oo quid for 2 of us. However in June we flew with Easyjet - booked last Oct and only cost just over 3oo for 2 of us - they have just released flights for next June and it would cost us double that for exactly the same flights! Like you say - Ridiculous

its all about supply and demand. As much as I hate to say this the days of cheapish flights to Turkey and elsewhere I think will be a thing of the past. There is so little competition and I think that is forcing up prices. perhaps prices were too low in the first place and the market is settling down to a more realistic cost

I was quite happy with the cost of June 2012 with Easyjet from Bristol to Dalaman, £430 for two flights, I think I was lucky.

After H4U collapse, we re-booked for Sept this year, and again Easyjet from Bristol was our cheapest, just over £500 between us.

Like above, I think the days of the cheap flights have now been laid to rest.

Meant to add - good luck and I hope you manage to get something sorted for October at a reasonable price - albeit higher than originally paid for or wanted.

Ivano you're right.
Book a dirt package in cheapest accomodation and book somewhere better to stay, probably cheaper than flight only now althoug I checked E***J** prices yesterday and there are still seats available on flights for this and next month at what I think are reasonable prices, certainly no more than I paid months ago for ours.

Things might settle down and the prices may come down, I would keep an eye on things. Prices can't possibly stay as high as they are, surely it's better to fill planes than to have them flying around half full???!

If they don't come down in price then do what others have suggested and book a cheap package deal to any resort that is serviced by Dalaman airport - doesn't have to be Icmeler if you're not going to use the accommodation. Needs must!

Good luck!

Thanks Vikki! I've just been looking on S**S****** and L***M***** and just going to book a one way (£57 from MAN) and hopefully have a little more luck and book my return when I get there.

Also, Mazz I've considered that, but again - I can't find any good deals. Plus, financially - I'm not very stable at the moment, haha. But, indeed hopefully I shall find a good flight coming back.

Thanks for the messages guys!

Hope you have great holidays.

Had booked for 3 weeks for next July with Aegean - Now while i'm not arguing that the price that we got the flights for was probably below cheap now to book with T***** C*** or T*****n who are my only other options out of Belfast the flights (only) are going to cost me £2400.00 - now that is beyond ridiculous.......

Well said Stewart, was wondering when our forum members were going to realise that we cannot carry on expecting these carriers to do it for next to nothing, its like when we moan about filling up our cars with petrol, the cost is spiralling, same too with aviation fuel !!! basically we have caused the downfall of low cost airlines like agean and all before, simply because " the public wont pay to keep them in business " This was a quote last week from a newspapers Travel writer. Sad to say but we are gonna have to pay more to get to our beloved Icmeler. :(
