Holidaying without partner

Postby MaggieMo » 05 Aug 2011 04:11

Im flying out to Icmeler on sunday with my daughter and her boyfriend my 7 year old son and obviously me.

My ex and me have just split up so he wont be coming, now im just fretting a wee bit about being on my own with the little man, i cant expect my daughter and her boyfriend to chill with me all the time as they are both 18 and will want to experience the night life and do their own thing now and again.

Has anyone else holidayed alone with their child, worried im going to look a bit of a sad case lol xxx

I wouldn't worry to much MaggieMo I've see men and women alone with they kids on holiday every year, so you won't be alone in that respect.

My daughter made friends with a another young girl who gets two holidays a year at the same place. One with her mother and one with her father.

Just make sure you have a good time

Maggie nothing could be further from the truth!

I don't know if you've been to Icmeler or anywhere else in Turkey before but they absolutely adore children so believe me, if it is just the two of you sometimes you won't be on your own for very long. I mean that in a good way, there's no fear of you being hassled in any way.

I first holidayed alone with my son when he was 2 (he's 14 now) and that was in Icmeler. You couldn't wish for a better place to be a lone parent to be honest as it's so safe and you will get to know the people immediately around you. When you go to a grocer shop or something they will probably make a fuss of your son and remember him each time. It really is lovely.

Also he's at an age where hopefully he'll make friends with other children in your hotel/apartments.

We've always travelled alone, it's great! :-)

Aw thanks you two, i should be ok for the first couple of days as i have family holidaying out there and they go home few days after i get there, Im not worried about company for the little man he is one of them kids that everyone seems to take to for some reason he is so lovely, not just saying that because he is my son lol.

Im severely hard of hearing so communicating personally was the big scary part for me about going but you have made me feel that bit better about going.

2 more sleeps !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will be fine, Icmeler is very child friendly. I have never seen guys fuss over children as much as they do there. You and your son will have a great time. I have been alone many times without a child and had a lovely time so you have the advantage of seeing your little one having a great time.
Put all the worries out of your head, and enjoy the excitement to the run up to your holiday. I guarantee on your return you will be on here posting what a great time you have all had. :)

Hi MaggieMo
Hope you have a fab time and as everyone has said you won't be lonely for long in Icmeler. You could try to sell the flight on here as people have done in the past. Might be worth a try as there may be people who were going with Aegean in the next few days that have lost their flight.

Just post a new topic saying you have the flight to sell. If anyone's interested you can email all arrangements. Best to have a price in mind first.

Good luck :-)
