My understanding is that you will only get the money back you paid for the original flight, for the extra cost of you rnew flight you need to check your insurance policy.

Sorry but I didnt answer because wasnt sure but from what I can make out you only get refund from the flight which has gone bust. I paid for flights with credit card so am ok but apartment I paid with debit and if I dont get another flight will have to accept losing money. Just goes to show that its best to pay for everything regarding holidays with credit card.
Sorry for everyone but I am in the same boat (the Titanic I think!)

Hi loates123, your credit card company will only refund the money for your cancelled flight and nothing else, if you do have a holiday insurance with a cancelation/liquidation clause in it you should check it out to see where you stand with them.

Hi I throught section 75 covered you for this as I still need to get home anyway is there any round away this as I think ill end up losing out by 500 quid here . Also the insurance company does it matter I paid for insurance from 19th august to 4th september wont they say the company went bust before these dates so not valid. Alsorang cc company they told me they wont pay for flight back I booked last night as I did not use the same credit card I used to book flight with agean flights very confusing so any help here would be great

Hi Loates

Any extras that you need to pay should be covered under Section 75 as "consequential losses". Check with your credit card company, as you say you still need to get home. Please remember that whoever you speak to at your cc company may not be clued up on S75 so they may need to investigate further on your behalf. Good luck.

Hi Loates
It should not really matter whether you booked the flight with a different card, the initial flight was booked with the credit card and this is the one that has been lost. As I said in previous post consequential losses are covered and fingers crossed you will get all your money back. Hope this helps!
