Ramazan in Icmeler

I've just noticed that Ramazan is starting in a few days time which made me realise that I have never experienced Ramazan in Icmeler.

When we lived in Kizkalesi it was fairly strictly observed as most of the visitors are Turk or of Turk origins.
It wasn't too bad if you took measures not to offend anyone (I remember having to drink my Efes from a coffee cup instead of a glass, lol!).

How does it effect holiday life in Icmeler? Or doesn't it?

Does the bakery make the special Ramazan pide (delicious)?

How is the end of Ramazan (Eid ul-Fitr) celebrated? I remember receiving a constant stream of visitors to our house bringing sweets and cakes for my son who loved it, lol!

We arrive 5 days before Eid so I am looking forward to some good times :-)

We have visited Icmeler several times during Ramazan over the years and as far as the tourist is concerned the service is the same as the rest of the year, we have not been in Icmeler at Eid so do not know what celebrations take place

We have arrived at the end of Ramadam, Eid, but during Ramadam, nothing changes in Icmeler but at the end, the "sugar festival", we were offered sweets and chocolates by the hotel, restaurants etc. it was very nice!! :D

Ramadan in Icmeler this year is from August 1st - August 29th with the Sugar Feast on the 30th.
The Ramadan Feast in Turkey is a time for visiting relatives and paying ones respects to older people.

Nothing really changes in icmeler during the month of ramadan as most people dont do it as its too hot
also the waiters are working hard and most cannot survive a whole day without water in that heat
never been in bayram before so not sure what happens in icmeler but im sure it will be a good time
xxxx

I think that every year that we have been in resort has been during Ramadan. Some of the waiters observe it and some don't; those that do tend to be a bit knackered come sunset but revive quickly when fed and watered. It seems to be more strictly observed by the older, local people in the same manner as many here eat fish on a Friday as part of their beliefs.

Bayram is quite uplifting and you can see an increased level of happiness on the locals as they celebrate it. We were in Selam two years ago when the fireworks started on the beach and the owner had to calm us down as we were not expecting the explosions around us. He had a good laugh at our expense and we had a couple of free brandies at his. :D
