It really is the most horrendous accident - very sad, haven't heard much more than what was printed in our local paper, his children were also in the jeep and are still being treated in hospital - hope they are ok.

Shortened version of the article printed:

"A city Met Office worker has been killed in a tragic accident while on holiday in Turkey.

Perry Roe died after the jeep he was in during an organised trip overturned near Saklikent, in the south of the country.

His wife, Siriol, 41, and children, Lowri, 14, and Sion, 12, were also in the vehicle. Siriol and Sion remain in hospital in Turkey.

Mr Roe, who lived in Ottery St Mary, had worked at the Met Office for 20 years. The 47-year-old was also a leading light in road rallying in the South West.

The Foreign Office said seven British nationals were in the jeep when the accident happened last week.

Friends and colleagues of Mr Roe have paid tribute to the 'A1' gentleman and say he will be greatly missed.
