Hi can anyone give me any information about the water taxi from Icmeler to Turunc please?

I know there are a few older threads on this topic but I was wondering if you know the return prices for this year and are adults and children charged the same?

How often to the boats go and how long does the trip take?

Does Turunc have it's market on a Monday? Is it any good for fresh fruit, salad, cheese etc?

What is there to do in Turunc?

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Can't help with all of your questions, but here's what I know
Taxi boats run frequently to Turunc, we caught ours down by the jetty last year, it was a lovely trip and took about 20 mins I think. I think it was around £7 each return?? There were just 2 adults, no kids but bear in mind that in Turkey, they seem to charge adult prices from say 14 year old so you may find your son is charged as an adult - then again, they may not charge at all
We just went for a wander in Turunc, ended up having some lunch and then came back
Was a nice enough way to spend half a day and made a change from the beach/pool haha

Turunc market is on a Monday, but we've never actually been to it so can't help you with what it sells. I know it is much much smaller than the Wednesday one in Icmeler though. The water taxis are every half hour and cost 15TL return (or 10TL one way). Think it takes about 20 minutes or so. There isn't a huge amount to do in Turunc, to be honest - it's a nice place to have a walk around and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes though. We got the water taxi there and the dolmus back to Icmeler, which is a bit of a hair-raising journey at times because of the steep drops and hairpin bends (maybe not so good if you're not a good traveller) but you do get spectacular views.
Oh, if you do go, there's a charity shop in aid of the street animals which is worth a wee visit - they sell loads of books etc, which is good if you like holiday reading - and it's in a good cause.

I had read that it was £15pp return, I much prefer your price, lol!
My son will be 14 but looks at least 17/18 so I was kind of expecting to pay full fare for him rather than try to prove his age, lol!
Were the restaurant/bar prices in Turunc on a par with Icmeler?
Is it a small place? I have an image in my head of it being tiny, quiet, peaceful and lazy.......am I going to be brought back down to earth with a bump?

I'd heard about the road between there and Icmeler, no way on earth you would get me to do it
I'm already stressed out enough about the transfer from Dalaman! I intend to go nowhere outside of Icmeler unless it's via boat until we have to go back to Dalaman.
I'll definitely make sure we find the charity shop, I'm planning on helping out with walking the dogs at the shelter in Icmeler too, got collars and treats already

it def wasn't £15 each, maybe £15 for both return I think? full day boat trips with lunch are only £10, and it wasn't as much as that each!
Turunc in our exp is small, with shops and bars on main street/along prom
Prices were dearer than Icmeler but we did eat on the prom, so I'd guess they'll be cheaper along the main road through town
AM not really qualified to comment fully on Turunc, cos we didn't explore it all
It's quieter and more compact than Icmeler I think and well worth paying a visit
You could do one way by boat and the other by dolmus? I believe the dolmus is cheaper, but you'd need a head for heights..............

Now you've said about full day trips being so cheap I must admit £15 does seem a tad OTT for 20 minutes each way!
I think we'll definitely go just for something to do and have a wander around the market. I think my son might be a bit bored of me lazing on a sun-lounger by our first Monday so it'll be a bit of excitement for him (hehehe). Mind you if the market isn't very big and there's not a lot to do then I may just look into an A.I. full day boat trip that may stop at Turunc that way we'll get to visit but also have a full day on the water as well. Hmmm, something else to look in to, lol!
I don't know if you've read my reply to Blondie above but the idea of getting the dolmus anywhere is a complete no no for me

Market day is Monday in Turunc, 15tl return first taxi at 10am takes 20-30mins to get there depending on the boat,we went on a Monday this year and as there was a boat load waiting on the central pier the taxi went earlier at 9.45am, we have a day there everytime we stay in icmeler, this year all the sunbeds were free on the beach, the sand is finer than in Icmeler and the sea is clear, the beach is a narrower one and you will see that once off the water taxi if you turn right and cross the footbridge over the canal you can walk the full length of the beach on a raised footpath and all the restaurants are right up against it, we always walk along to the Sumen restaurant and use the beach there, we treat Turunc as a chill out day. If you do go you could try water taxi there and dolmus back over the mountain great views we have done this a few times but now just use water taxi return, if you fancy the dolmus back if you look to your left as you cross the canal you will see the main dolmus stop with timetables on the main street and when back in Icmeler it drops off by Icmeler market. Hope you enjoy Turunc oh and get your son to take his snorkel and mask better than in Icmeler for that

Wow! Thanks for all that info, I certainly have a better idea about what to do now if we do go although now I'm torn between visiting Turunc as part of an all day boat trip or water taxi there for the day

The restaurant you mentioned, is it authentic Turk menu or a bit of everything?

restaurant is bit of everything as most are but owner takes pride in keeping the sand clean so stands out a bit more he also has sand bags leading into the water making it easier getting from beach to sea because the sand ends at waters edge and you can see the rocks etc,Hence good for mask and snorkel , we used it the first time we went so go back each time

We try to do a trip over to Turunc each visit, it's such a lovely little place. We went Monday as we'd never visited the market before, but to be honest, you're not missing anything if you go another day! It's tiny, just a handful of stalls, but on the plus side, much less hassle and a nicer atmosphere than Icmeler Mad Market. 15tl return from Icmeler - from either the bottom of the main canal, the jetty a bit further along or from the harbour, boats every 30 mins or so, takes a good 20+ minutes to get there. We always used to Dolmus one way but did both ways on the water taxi this year as it was too hot to contemplate being squished up over the mountains - spectacular views though but a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

There isn't a great deal to do in Turunc, it really is very small, but it's got a nice beach so if you want a relaxing day by the sea, then it has a bundle of charm. There are the usual watersports and lots of boats coming and going on the trips. I really like it for a day or so, wouldn't want to stay there for the whole holiday, just a bit too quiet for me. We found prices just a little bit more than Icmeler but still very reasonable. The bar opposite where the taxi boat drops does good pide too

Oh yes, noodles - we had pide in that restaurant just opposite where you get dropped off in the water taxi too - and it was delicious! Worth the trip alone!

Well after just speaking to my son he's decided he doesn't want to go on an all day boat trip so a water taxi to Turunc it is then, lol!

I've been looking up restaurants in Turunc and have come across the Han restaurant + bar + hotel, have any of you been there? It's the oldest restaurant there apparently and does really good seafood and traditional Turk cooking. Not sure how pricey it'll be though because the photo's on their website make it look a bit swanky, lol!

Mine you we love a good pide so thanks Blondie and Noodles for that tip-off, I think we're more likely to eat there

Well that's me done at work now, just got all the packing and ironing to do before meeting the 15kg challenge!
Starting to get excited

if your son likes the sea, he may want to rethink the all day boat trip - my kids love getting the chance to jump off the boat at every stop!
if you decide to do an alldayer, it's worth asking which days they stop off in Turunc - Captain Bullshits usually stops off there for a while on his Sunday trip

I'm sure you won't have to try too hard

15kg?? I've booked 40kg between the two of us, lol! Mind you that's so I can bring lots back

Alexander is actually on a canal boat holiday at the moment with my parents so he doesn't mind water it's just this morning he really did not want to commit to a full day trip. I think he'll probably change his mind when we're there, especially when he realises that it'll be cooler on a boat than sat around a pool.
I'm hoping he'll make some friends and then he'll be up for anything

I'll be apoplectic when I'm only 2 or 3 days away from going although I'll be at V Festival for 4 days, home for 2 nights and then off to the airport.
I'll need a good rest in Icmeler by then
