Is 250 Turkish Lira enough per day?

Postby Chris221273 » 14 Jul 2011 20:58

Just been working out our holiday budget and we're reckoning on 250 tl a day.
We don't intend on doing loads of trips, maybe 2 or 3 tops, the usual breakfast, lunch & dinner and maybe a few efes ;-)
Do those that know and have been here many times think that's a realistic budget?
Thank you.

Hi - how many of you are there? If just 2 of you 250 a day should be more than enough including quite a few Efes!

Definitely.... me and my friend spent £300 each in 6 days. That included lunches and eating out every night although we did eat in the cheap pide places a couple of times, drinking every night including two late ones in Eastenders and a couple of small shops in the Tansas for water, breakfasts, fruit, etc, we went on a boat trip and I was buying a packet of cigs every day (only smoke on holiday). Works out around £50 a day each, which 125TL each.

Thats roughly the same as us Mickyq.
£100 a day and £300/£400 for trips and extras ( we are family of 5)
On average a night time meal and 1-2 drinks each would cost us 90- 100lira. Brunch would cost 30-50 lira .
Some nights we go to pizza tomato (kids) or nefes pide and this would only cost 30-40 lira. that still leaves enough for us all to have a few drinks every night.
Last year we only got 2.24 to the £, so even better this year at 2.50+ lira to the £.
Some nights we over spent and others we under spent, six and half a dozen . :D

When the wife and I went in May we spent 100 lira a day Between us for 14 days and were getting 254 lira to the pound as I had ordered it when the rate was good.
But we didnt do any trips this year.
It is common knowledge though that I am a tight wad and dont drink a lot.
250 a day is plenty for two people you dont want to throw your money about to much. :D
Ease off on the tipping as this can run away with your money if your going for two weeks.
We were based in an Hotel on a Bed and Breakfast basis

I cant wait for the day when all my kids are grown up and paying there own way :D
I agree 100 lira would be enough for two adults per day...... or splash out and spend more :D

My man tips to much during our holidays, I have yet to figure out his method on tipping...... but we never over spend.
July last year was only 2.2ish+. compared to redrhino12 getting 254 in May.

I give the kids a tenner each a day to do what they like and they loving the fact we going Turkey as at 2.5l, it equals 350l - they think they loaded, which compared to what i had at their age they are.

A bit confuse, £10 - 25Lira unless you are talking about the total over the holiday

Dave

edit : Just done the math, and I see you are calculating it over 14 days

alex £10 is only 25 lira at todays rate :D ... I think your kids are ripping you off :D
We do the same and give the kids money to burn. the best place is the park just of the Marmaris rd from the council office... bouncy castles, crazy golf, go-kart (kids only), basketball/football/tennis court, arcade games, painting and drawing if you want it and loads of kiddy type fun , drinks and crisps are on sale for the kids and Efes for us older type folks . ( not sure if they sell harder stuff) . The owners bend over backwards to make tourists welcome as it is mostly Turkish familys that visit. Its great watching your kids interact with local Turkish kids and having fun.

Its funny that this place never gets a mention when people ask about things to do for kids in the Icmeler area., as it is the only kiddy thing that Icmeler has( Marmaris is a dolmus ride away).

One thing that my kids will miss is having 20lira to buy lace type chains and evil eyes at the canal stalls :( .

for sure it was there in the first 3 weeks of July 2010, we visited it at least 6 times during our 3 week stay last july.

I should also add that you have to buy TOKENS from the bar ( 1 lira per token) in order to use all the stuff they have.
from memory ( guess) it is 3 tokens for 20 mins on the big bouncy castle, 2 tokens for the arcade games, 2 tokens for the kids go-kart, 5/6 tokens for a round of crazy golf each ( they always gave us a deal of adults 6 tokens each and kids free). the basketball/ tennis court is free but you have to ask for a key to open the enclosed area.
cans of juice 1.5-2 lira , efes (small cans) 4lira,
The owners speak good english and are always chatting with us, we where often the only non Turkish family using the park, and kids will have fun in any language.
