hi everyone i was just wondering the best way to take money to icmeler ive got a few turkish lira but im unsure whether to take travelers cheques in euro or sterling. and do you get a better rate in resort for changing money as on the icmeler online website the daily turkish lira rate is a lot higher than it is in england at the moment any advice greatly appreciated thanks.

Hi Karen. Ive never been to Icmeler before, but if it is anything like the rest of the holiday resorts in Europe, then you will get a better exchange rate in the resort. The pound is a valuable currency and they seem to be willing to pay out more for it. Good news for us

Again, like anywhere else, you are best to take some (not much) Turkish lira with you, and the rest in Travellers cheques and cash (Bank of England only probably).

Take your travellers cheques in sterling and take some english money with you too as you'll see lots of things marked up "3 for a tenner" in the markets.
I would take in enough Turkish Lira to see you through the first day/few hours whatever, as yes you'll get a better exchange rate in Icmeler than here in the UK.
You will be able to change your cheques/cash at change offices (there are several around the resort) and quite a few restaruants and shop owners will also change cheques or cash at good rates.

hi been icemeler about 10 times now in last 5 years i have always just took about 30pounds in turkish and the rest in sterling i have never had any problems in bars shops restaruants or anything ,,you can spend sterling in any place whether paying for a meal drinks clothes trips ,,if you do need to change money you can change it anywhere,,, hope this helps ,

We usually take £100 turkish, £100 stirling and the rest in travellers cheques but this year we have opened a nationwide current account (they don't charge you for taking money out of ATM's whilst abroad) and so took our usual turkish and stirling and then withrew the rest from the cash machine. THis was excellen and will do this every year from now on. We got the interbank rate for money from the ATM. Rate was 2.70 in resort but got 2.82 from the ATM. It doesn't sound much but soon mounts up when you are talking in 100's. Just made sure that we kept our cards in the hotel safe and only got them out to withdraw money. Hope this helps. Di.

hi i went to icmeler in june and its the changed office by the ATMs and all my family got robbed by our money one day he robbed me of over £100 but i was so stupid to realize then one day i went bk there with my mum and this old man was goin mad he had done the same to him so the old man demanded his money back then one of the boys came out from the restraunt to see wot was happenin and he said every day he steals money he cheats the customer. so the old man was tryin to get me to go to the police but i couldnt prove it so i didnt go. my nan and all my other family goes to one of the boys from the famouse kitchen so change their money. xx
