Running Advice

Postby david_uk » 19 Jun 2011 14:32

Hi,

I'm going to Icmeler for the first time on 8 July staying at the Selem with a couple of mates. No matter where i go I always take my running trainers and like to do 5-6 mile runs in the evening. Can anyone recommend a good trail i.e is there a prom?

Cheers
Dave

Hi David, You will be far better running first thing in the morning as the evenings are hot hot hot. Go down to the prom and head towards Marmaris, not many folk about early doors. Cheers Jim

I agree, do your runs in the morning, to hot early evening.
A run up to the back of the resort and back is about the distance you are looking for.
Enjoy.

as everyone else has said i would run early in the morning as its gonna be too hot
its boiling even in the evening when the sun is going down
i would run on the path which runs parallel to the beach between icmeler and marmaris as its flat
if you decide to go into the old village its not good roads and you could get lost also its not flat as you are climbing
hope this helps

hi david im a runner as well and last year i did 5 mile every morning along the prom its a lovely run BUT make sure you take a load of fluid i ran with 2 half litre bottles and took money for when i finished to get some more. I ran at 7.30 till 8.00 am and you could feel the temp rising it started at 25 degrees at 7.00 by 8.00 it was sometimes in the mid 30s one day even hotter. i was there in the 1st two weeks in august and im going again at the same time but ive had bother with my cartlidge so i will have to watch what im doing but i will still be running every morning at the same time hangover allowing. I bought one of those belts you wear when running they hold 2 bottles of 500ml and have a money pouch you get them at jjb for a tenner there great because you could run to marmaris and get the boat back or the dolmbus . Just email if you want any more help .............Dave
