Kinda about Icmeler.....

We went to Icmeler last June and simply loved it....so much we returned in October.
Whats not to love? The area, the scenery, the wonderful people, the food etc. I could go on.......well, I'm sure all you forumites dont need telling eh?

Anyways, we thought to try another part of Turkey - explore some more etc.
So, we are going to the Ovacik area in a couple of weeks and are booked for Icmeler for September.

My problem? Ahhh reading this forum, I wish it were Icmeler in June instead... am I allowed to ask here - anyone else been to that area and does it compare to Icmeler?

I cant help with your question, I have never been there. I hope you have a lovely time and dont spend all your time comparing it to Icmeler, but just think, September is not a long long time away until you are back in paradise.

At least its nice to read here of all the changes and get some ideas of new things/places to try.
My list is growing!

Hi,

We have been to Ovacik, it is really nice. Lots of bars and restaurants. Could not fault it, but that was also my 1st time in Turkey 4 yrs ago. You should get the dolmus down to oli deniz for the beach there.....it is lovely are there. As said before.....don't compare it......just enjoy!!!! Have a lovely time. This is my 1 st time staying in Icemeler, but have spent some days there while in Marmaris, and just loved the place. So 12 days and we will be there.....Can't wait!!! 8)

You'll enjoy Ovacik - its got a few bars but a short walk into Hisaronu and your spoilt for choice. Take a dolmus down to Olu and thats even better.

There's a Water Park in Ovacik, its as if your heading out of Ovacik opposite direction to Hisaronu. Its joined to a hotel, very small and a little run down, but the slides are fun. I think there is a bigger one in Fethiye - which you could try after sampling the fish restaurants there.

If you're adventureus try jumping of Babadag mountain strapped to a paraglider - fun watching them land on Olu Beach or for a little bit more money try the motorised ones that take off at night for a tour.

Take a dolmus/walk to the deserted village at Karakoy (ghost town) great photo opportunity or there's a few pancake cafes there to just sit and enjoy.

I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time there - we might be going back in 2012, it may be a toss up between Icmeler and Ovacik.

Cheers John
