There is an area with wooden stalls all ready for occupation, just up from the market and across the road. But it wasnt in use when we left on the 15th May. The DVD man has opened a shop just opposite what was Anlar jewellers it now called The Gold.

does not look like these stalls will be open this year as the paperwork hass not been sorted out yet, went down the canal to take a look and even though it looks nice with the trees, i only ventured into the front twice after that as i used to spent every night down there, now they have gone the centre has lost its appeal to me so spent most nights in the village

So very very disappointed to see no stalls this year, it's like the heart of Icmeler has been taken away. There has been much change this year, sadly, in my view not all of it is good. All the years I've been going, the canal was the hub of the special atmosphere that made Icmeler so lovely, and now it is totally empty and incredibly disappointing. I understand the reasons for them going, but it should be addressed, not stopped altogether. Spent all week looking for our favourite stall holders, managed to find a few (my lovely handbag man is now next to Florida) but it's just not the same at all.

I was also told they were going up by the market but no sign of anything as yet (back yesterday).

Bring back the canal stalls!!

(Can we start a petition?)

Anyone know where Ayhan's stall is now? He had the silver stall next door to the DVD man near the Bridge at the end of the canal.

Just back from Icmeler last weekend and sadly I feel it was a bad decision to remove the market stalls from the canal area. The beach end of the canal is now very dead. We always loved to end our evenings (and even afternoons) with a stroll along the canal and chatting to the stall owners who we have got to know over the years. A friend of mine who always stays in Marmaris told me the main reason she comes over to Icmeler is to have a walk around the stalls so I feel Icmeler has lost a wee bit of it's unique charm. Depressed at being home but will send a review of lovely Icmeler soon. :(
