Uh oh, fingers crossed it doesn't affect our holidays - so glad I know our travel insurance covers us in the event of anything like that though. I know after the last volcano disruption that a lot of insurers don't now cover you unless you specifically ask for it.

Now they have test data the airlines now know what amount of ash they can fly through unlike last year, for me the right decision was made to ground the aircraft on safety reasons, far better than not know and have the possibility of many deaths because of Engine failure, remember the only data prior to this was from 1982 when there was one lucky aircraft that survived (293 passengers) flying through an ash cloud, total engine failure resulted but they were able to restart the engines after they had glided out of the ash.

Looks like a few flights from Scotland are cancelled for tomorrow.

As someone said it is better to be grounded than not safe. Personally I would rather risk a few days or even a full holiday than be on a flight with engine failure. I too would like to be stranded in Icmeler but I knew someone affected by it last year whilst abroad and it was a total nightmare for them and they seriously dented their credit card! They were stranded with hardly any information as were many thousands.

I too hope it is OK for everyone,

Best place for info is to keep up with the professional pilots chatting about it at

http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/4522 ... ged-3.html

I wouldn't bother posting "Am I going to get grounded at such and such a date" as they won't know, but its good for upto date info.

Having waited a full year to return to Icmeler, i am left feeling a little blue at the thought of flight disruption this weekend due to that pesky volcano in Iceland - fingers crossed for my Friday flight!!!

No doubt there are others in the same boat!
